Cochin University CUSAT CAT 2015 for BTech Admissions application starts

Cochin University of Science and technology (CUSAT) invites applications from eligible candidates for admission to For First Degree Programmes (B.Tech. and 5 year Integrated M.Sc. in Photonics) for the year 2015-16 . Admission to First Year Undergraduate Engineering and Integrated M.Sc. in Photonics  are based on Common Admission Test (CAT) scores.

CUSAT will conduct Common Admission Test (CAT ) on All-India basis for for First Degree Programmes (B.Tech. and 5 year Integrated M.Sc. in Photonics). The CAT will be conducted with test centres in New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Jamshedpur, Allahabad, Lucknow, Ranchi, Varansi, Kota, Dubai, Thiruvananathapuram, Kollam, Adoor (Pathanamthitta), Thodupuzha (Idukki), Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur, Kalpatta (Wayanad) and Kasaragod.

BTech 2015 Admissions in CUSAT  through Common Admission Test  (CAT)

Applicants for the following programmes are required to appear for CAT, except where specifically indicated otherwise.

FIRST DEGREE PROGRAMMES

A. B.Tech. in Civil Engg.**, Computer Science & Engg.**, Electrical & Electronics Engg.*                        Electronics & Communicating Engg.**, Information Technology**, Mechanical Engg.* and Safety & Fire Engg.**.
B. B.Tech. in Polymer Science & Engineering
C. Five Year Integrated M.Sc. in Photonics
D. B. Tech. in Instrumentation Technology
E. B. Tech. in Marine Engg. (Residential Programme)**
F. B. Tech. in Naval Architecture & Ship Building
G. 5 Year B.B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) (Cost sharing)
H. 5 Year B.Com.LL.B (Hons) (Cost sharing)

Eligibility criteria for BTech Admission in CUSAT CAT 2015

For item A,B & C: Pass in plus-two examination of the state of Kerala or any other examination accepted as  equivalent thereto with mathematics, physics and chemistry as optional subject securing a minimum of 50% marks in mathematics and 50% marks in mathematics, physics and chemistry put together

For item D:  Pass in plus-two examination of the state of Kerala or any other examination accepted as      equivalent thereto with mathematics, physics and chemistry as optional subjects securring a minimum of 60% marks in mathematics, physics and chemistry put together, with at least 55% in mathematics separately.

For item E:

1. Pass in plus-two examination of the state of Kerala or any other examination accepted as equivalent thereto with physics, chemistry, mathematics and English as separate subjects with a PCM average of not less than 60% marks & minimum 50% for mathematics alone. Should have obtained 50% marks in English at 10th or 12th standards. This is applicable to the SC/ST candidates also.

2. Medical fitness Certificate obtained from Medical Examiners approved by DG Shipping is required

3. Vocational/Diploma students are not eligible to apply.

4. The Maximum age limit prescribed is 25 years as on 1st September of the year of admission.

5. Eligibility for adission is based on the directions from the DG Shipping (Govt. of India)

For item F:

Pass in plus-two examination of the state of Kerala or any other examination accepted as equivalent thereto with a First Class (60%) securing a minimum of 50% marks in mathematics as well as for mathematics, physics and chemistry put together.

Fort item G:

1. Pass in Plus 2 examination with 60% marks in Science / Commerce group or 55% marks in Arts / Humanities.

2. Should not have completed 20 years of age on  July 1st of the year of admission. 22 years in the case of SC/ST and OBC candidates.
Fort item H

1. Pass in Plus 2 examination with 60% marks in Science group or 55% marks in Commerce / Arts / Humanities

2. Should not have completed 20 years of age on July 1st of the year of admission. 22 years in the case of SC /ST and OBC candidates.

(Students whohave taken their 10+2 or degree through distance or correspondence method are eligible to apply for B.B.A LL.B. and B.Com.LL.B (Hons.), whereas those who passed the course through Open University Scheme without any basic qualifications are ineligible for admission to this course)

Note: 1.SC/ST candidates are eligible for admission, if they have pass marks in qualifying examination except for B.Tech. in Marine Engineering.

2. SEBC Canidates are eligible for a 5% relaxation in marks (Under Graduate Programmes) except for B.Tech. in Marine Engineering.

ALLOCATION OF SEATS BTECH 2015 THROUGH CUSAT CAT 2015

Of the total seats for B.Tech (Self-Financing) programmes 50% are State Merit seats, 40% are All India Merit seats and 10% are NRI payment seats.. The State Merit seats are earmarked for Keralites only. Communal reservation is applicable only for candidates who are the natives of Kerala as per Kerala Govt. Rules.. For B.Tech. in Naval Architecture & Ship Building, Instrumentation and Polymer Science & Engineering 10% of the seats are reserved for students on all India basis (All India Quota) and the remaining seats for Keralites. for 5 year Integrated M.Sc. in Photonics programme 10% of the seats are set apart for students on all India basis (All India Quota) and the remaining for Keralites.
