UPSC ESE 2022 Notification (Out) for 247 Vacancies,  Apply Online

UPSC ESE 2022 – Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has started the online application process for the recruitment to the post of Group A and Group B under Civil Engineering Cadre, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering on official website upsc.gov.in. A total of 247 vacancies has been announced through this recruitment drive

Candidates interested for the posts are required to register for Engineering Service Examination (ESE) 2022 on or before 12th October 2021.

Eligibility Criteria for UPSC ESE 2022

  • Nationality: A candidate must be either (a) a citizen of India, or (b) a subject of Nepal, or (c) a subject of Bhutan, or (d) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 01st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or (e) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka or East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or from Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Age Limit

  • The age of the candidate should be between 21 to 30 years (relaxations will be given to the candidates from reserved categories).

Educational Qualification

  • B.E/B.Tech from a Recognized University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other Educational Institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as Universities under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956; or
  • Should have cleared Sections A and B of the Institution Examinations of the Institution of Engineers (India); or
  • Degree/Diploma in Engineering from such foreign University/College/Institution and under such conditions as may be recognized by the Government for the purpose from time to time, or
  • Qualified in Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (India) or
  • Qualified in Associate Membership Examination Parts II and III/Sections A and B of the Aeronautical Society of India; or
  • Passed Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Radio Engineers, London held after November 1959

Medical Exam

  • Candidates finally recommended by the Commission on the basis of Engineering Services Exam 2022 shall be required to undergo a medical exam.
  • Medical exam will be conducted at various Railway Hospitals under Ministry of Railways 

Physical Standards

  • Candidates must be physically fit according to physical standards for admission to Engineering Services Exam 2022

How to Apply for UPSC ESE 2022  – Application Process

  • Candidates are required to apply Online only by using the website www.upsconline.nic.in. Brief instructions are given in AppendixIIA. Detailed instructions for filling up online applications are available on the above mentioned website.
  • The facility of withdrawal of Application is available for those candidates who do not want to appear for the Exam
  • In this regard, Instructions are mentioned in AppendixIIB of this Examination Notice

Application Fee

  • General/OBCl – Rs. 200/-
  • Female/SC/ST/PwBD – No Fee
  • Depositing the money in any Branch of SBI by cash or by using net banking facility of State Bank of India or by using any Visa/Master/RuPay Credit/Debit Card
  • Selection Process for UPSC ESE 2022
  • There will be three round for the selection of the candidates
  • Preliminary Exam of 500 Marks
  • Mains Exam of 600 Marks
  • Interview of 200 Marks
  • Final qualified candidates will be called for medical examination. 

ESE Prelims Exam Pattern

  • There will be objective-type questions divided into 2 papers. Paper 1 consist of General Studies and Engineering Aptitude and Paper 2 Civil/ Mechanical/Electrical/ Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering
  • Paper 1 will be of 200 marks and Paper 2 will be of 300 Marks
  • Candidates will be 2 hours to complete in Paper 1 and 3 hours for Paper 2
  • There will be a negative marking of One-third (1/3rd) of the marks for wrong answer

ESE Mains Exam Pattern

  • The mains exam will also consist of 2 papers. However, the questions are conventional. Both Paper will have questions on Civil/ Mechanical/Electrical/ Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering of 300 Marks Each
  • 3 hours will be given to complete the test
  • Conventional papers must be answered in English. The question paper will be set in English only. 

UPSC ESE Personality Test

  • Those who will qualify in the prelims and mains exam will be called for StageIII (Personality Test). 
  • Marks obtained by the candidates in the StageI:(Preliminary/StageI) Exam, StageII: (Main/StageII) Exam and StageIII (Personality Test) would determine their final ranking

Admit Card

  • UPSC ESE Prelims Admit Card is expected in the third week of January 2022 on UPSC Online Website
