CSIR NET 2024 Application Form
The CSIR NET application form is the official document that aspiring candidates must complete and submit to apply for the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) National Eligibility Test (NET). This form is a crucial initial step in the application process, and it allows candidates to express their intent to participate in the examination.
How to apply to CSIR NET 2024?
Online Registration: Visit the official CSIR website (www.csirnet.nta.nic.in). Look for the link to “Apply Online” for the CSIR NET 2024 examination.
Fill in Basic Details: Start by registering with your email ID and phone number. You will receive an application number and password for future access.
Complete the Application Form: Log in using the application number and password provided. Fill out the online application form, providing accurate and complete information. You will need to enter personal details, educational qualifications, subject preferences, category details, and other relevant information.
Enter the Security Pin given at the bottom of the CSIR NET 2024 application form registration page and click the ‘Submit’ button.
Select Examination Centers and Specializations: Choose the examination centers where you prefer to take the CSIR NET 2024 exam. You will typically have the option to select multiple centers. You also have to select the specialization in which you want to give the exam to proceed further in the CSIR NET 2024 Application Form. Enter the Security Key once both the exam city and specialization are selected and then click on ‘Submit’.
Upload Documents: Scan and upload your recent passport-sized photograph and signature as per the specified format and size guidelines. If applicable, upload any other required documents, such as category certificates.
Pay the Application Fee: Pay the application fee using the available online payment methods (credit/debit cards, net banking, or UPI). The application fee varies depending on the category you belong to and the number of subjects you select for the exam.

CSIR NET 2024 Eligibility Criteria
The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) lays down certain criterias in order for the candidate to be eligible for the CSIR NET 2024. The following is the CSIR NET 2024 Eligibility Criteria as laid down by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research :-

- The candidate should be an Indian national so as to give the CSIR NET 2024 Examination.
Eligibility Criteria- Qualification
The following is the Eligibility criteria pertaining to the educational qualifications of the candidates:-

1. General (UR) / General-EWS and OBC Candidates |
They need to possess at least an M.Sc. or equivalent degree, Integrated BS-MS, BS-4 years, BE, B.Tech, B. Pharma, or MBBS with a minimum of 55% marks to be eligible for CSIR NET. |
2. M.Sc. or undergraduate degree |
Candidates currently pursuing an M.Sc. or undergraduate degree can also apply under the “Result Awaited (RA)” category, provided they achieve the required scores within two years. |
3.SC/ST and Persons with Disability (PwD) Candidates |
These candidates must have a minimum of 50% marks in M.Sc. or equivalent qualifications to be eligible. |
4.Candidates with B.Sc (Hons) or Equivalent Degrees |
Those with a Bachelor’s degree or currently enrolled in an Integrated MS-Ph.D. program can be eligible, provided they score a minimum of 55% marks for General candidates (50% marks for SC/ST/PWD). |
5.Bachelor’s Degree Holders |
Bachelor’s degree holders are eligible for the fellowship if they get registered/enrolled in a Ph.D. or Integrated Ph.D. program within two years. |
6.Lectureship Eligibility |
Candidates who completed their Master’s degree before September 19, 1992, with a minimum of 50% marks can apply for Lectureship only. |
7.Third Gender Category |
Candidates belonging to the Third gender category are entitled to similar relaxations in terms of fees, age, and eligibility criteria as those provided to SC/ST categories. The subject-specific qualifying cut-offs for this category will be the lowest among SC/ST/PwD/OBC–NCL/General-EWS categories in that particular subject. |
Eligibility Criteria- Age Limit
- The JRF position has an upper age limit set by the NTA. According to the CSIR UGC NET 2023 eligibility criteria (since the CSIR NET 2024 Eligibility criteria has not yet been released), the candidate for Joint Research Fellowship must be no older than 28 years old.
- Candidates from the reserved categories, on the other hand, receive an age relaxation.
- For Lectureship and Assistant Professor positions no upper age limit has been set by the NTA.

CSIR NET Exam Pattern
The CSIR NET 2024 exam pattern consists of five papers. The exam is conducted to assess the eligibility of candidates for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and lectureship in various science disciplines. Below is the general exam pattern:

The CSIR NET 2024 exam is held in a computer-based test (CBT) mode.Candidates must select one of the five subjects (Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, Earth Sciences) during the application process, based on their academic background and expertise. The exam is of a total of 200 marks and is of 3 hours. Each question carries 2 marks. Negative marking applies, however is different for each part of the subject tested upon. (25% for some parts while it is 33% for others)
The question paper will be divided into three sections:
Section A: This section will be common to all subjects and will consist of a maximum of 20 General Aptitude questions. Candidates must answer any 15 of these questions, each carrying two marks. The total marks for this section will be 30 out of 200.
Section B: This part will contain subject-specific multiple-choice questions (MCQs). It will contribute 70 marks out of the total 200 marks. The number of questions to be attempted in this section will vary between 20 and 35.
Section C: In this section, candidates will encounter higher value questions that may assess their understanding of scientific concepts and their ability to apply these concepts analytically to solve scientific problems. This section will be worth 100 marks out of 200.

The candidate must answer a maximum of 15, 35, and 25 questions from Parts A, B, and C, respectively. If more than the requisite number of questions are answered, only the first 15, 35, and 25 questions in Part A, Part B, and Part C will be evaluated.
