Universities instructed to fix last date of Undergraduate admission after declaration of CBSE Class 12 Board Exam Results

The University Grant Commission has directed all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to set the Undergraduate admission deadline after the declaration of CBSE class 12 Board Exam Results

UGC has issued the directive to HEIs after CBSE approached the commission regarding colleges beginning undergraduate admissions for the session (2022-’23) before the release of the Class 12 results.

UGC Secretary Rajnish Jain wrote in a letter addressed to Vice-Chancellors, Principals and Directors that “It has come to the notice that some universities have started registration in undergraduate courses for the session (2022-2023). In this scenario, the students from CBSE will be deprived of admission in the undergraduate courses if the last date is fixed by the universities prior to CBSE result declaration.

“It is therefore, requested that all the higher educational institutions may fix the last date of their undergraduate admission process after declaration of result of Class Xll by CBSE so as to provide sufficient time to such students for admission in undergraduate courses,” read the letter

UGC has informed that the CBSE evaluation procedure is still in progress. The final results will be announced after combining the weightage based on the performance in both Term 1 and Term 2 Exams. The entire period will take a month. The result is expected to be declared during the fourth week of July 2022.

The CBSE conducted two sets of board examinations for Class 10 and Class 12 students for the academic year 2021-22 due to COVID-19 Pandemic.
