Eligibility Criteria

  1. Tech in Civil Engineering with specialization in Tunnel Engineering
  • For the General category candidates, the minimum requirement is 65% marks in aggregate/ equivalent CGPA in B.E./B.Tech. /AMIE Civil Engineering.
  •  For SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS/PWD candidates, relaxation of 5% or 0.5 CGPA of the above criterion is allowed.
  • The candidate must have a valid GATE score card with GATE paper code CE.
  • Note: Candidates who fulfill the above criteria, can be called for a written exam followed by an interview. Only selected candidates who score above the cutoff marks in the written exam will be called for an interview. The cutoff marks will be decided by the M.Tech. selection committee of the department. Merely appearing for a written exam will not guarantee a call for the interview. Based on the GATE score and performance in the written exam and interview, only the selected candidates will be communicated with an offer for admission in M.Tech. in Tunnel Engineering.
  1. Tech in Civil Engineering with specialization in Structural Engineering
  • For the General category candidates, the minimum requirement is 65% marks in aggregate/equivalent CGPA in B.E./B.Tech./AMIE Civil Engineering.
  • For SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS/PWD candidates, relaxation of 5% or 0.5 CGPA of the above criterion is allowed.

  1. Tech in Computer Science and Engineering
  • Candidates should have qualified their qualifying degree (B.Tech/B.E./M.Sc.) in Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mathematics and Statistics. The candidates must have a valid GATE Score card with a minimum of 300 score (for SC/ST category the minimum is 200 score). Computer Science and Engineering (CS), Electronics Engineering (EC), Mathematics (MA), and Statistics (ST) would be the required subject specializations at the GATE examination.
  • Candidates who have qualified AMIE or Grad IETE qualifications will also be considered for admission based on their performance in AMIE/Grad IETE. Such candidates will have to complete 24 valid credits specified by concerned DPGC along with a valid GATE score.
  • General category candidates should have minimum 60% marks in aggregate or minimum 6.0 CGPA on a 10- point scale. Relaxation of 5% will be given to the SC/ ST/ OBC NCL/ PWD/ EWS candidates. 
  • Note: Above mentioned criterion is primary screening criterion and further technical round of test and/or interview will be conducted for selecting the candidates.
  1. Tech in Electrical Engineering with specialization in Communication and Signal Processing
  • BE/B.Tech./MSc in Electronics Engineering/Electronics and Communication Engineering/ Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering/Electrical and Electronics Engineering/ Electronics and Telecommunication/Electrical Engineering/allied streams with 60% aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA. 
  • A minimum of 60% marks or an equivalent CGPA in secondary (X) and senior secondary (XII) school examinations. A relaxation of 5% marks or equivalent will be given in either of secondary (X) or senior secondary (XII) school examinations.
  • The candidates must have a valid GATE Score card with EC paper code and have scored a minimum of 300 score (for SC/ST/PWD category the minimum is 200 score). 
  • Note: Candidates will be screened based on B.E./B.Tech. marks and GATE score, and will be called for a written test and/or interview based on screening criteria.
  1. Tech in Electrical Engineering with specialization in VLSI Design
  • BE/B.Tech./MSc in Electronics Engineering/Electronics and Communication Engineering/ Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering/Electrical and Electronics Engineering/ Electronics and Telecommunication/Electrical Engineering/allied streams with 60% aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA. 
  • A minimum of 60% marks or an equivalent CGPA in secondary (X) and senior secondary (XII) school examinations. A relaxation of 5% marks or equivalent will be given in either of secondary (X) or senior secondary (XII) school examinations.
  • The candidates must have a valid GATE Score card with EC paper code and have scored a minimum of 300 score (for SC/ST/PWD category the minimum is 200 score).

  1. Tech in Mechanical Engineering with specialization in Thermal and Energy System
  • Candidates should have B.E./B.Tech./A.M.I.E. in Mechanical / Aerospace/ Aeronautical/ Chemical Engineering/ MSc. (Physics) with relevant courses applicable to specialization under consideration.
  • General category candidates should have minimum 60% marks in aggregate or minimum 6.0 CGPA on a 10- point scale. Relaxation of 5% will be given to the SC/ ST/ OBC NCL/ PWD/ EWS candidates.
  • Candidates should have a valid score card of GATE qualified in Mechanical Engineering (ME), or in Engineering Sciences (XE) papers. Candidates who appeared for the Engineering Sciences (XE) paper, should have written both Fluid Mechanics (XE-B) and Thermodynamics (XE-F) papers.
  1. Tech in Chemical Engineering with specialization in Sustainable Energy Engineering
  • Candidates should have B.E./B.Tech in Chemical Engineering/ Chemical Technology/ Bio-Chemical Engineering/ Energy Engineering/ Petroleum Engineering/ Nanotechnology & Production Engineering, or, MSc in Physics/ Chemistry/ Nanotechnology/ Biochemical/ Biochemistry/ Polymer, and allied branches.
  • General category candidates should have a minimum 60% marks in aggregate or a minimum 6.0 CGPA on a 10-point scale. A relaxation of 5% will be given to the SC/ ST/ OBC- NCL/ PWD/ EWS-Candidates.
  • Candidates should have a valid scorecard of GATE qualified in either in Chemical Engineering (CH), or in Petroleum Engineering (PE) 
  • Note: Candidates will be screened based on B.E./B.Tech. marks and GATE, subsequently called for a written test and/or interview based on screening criteria.

  • It is mandatory for all candidates applying for M.Tech programmes to register at Common Offer Acceptance Portal https://iitk.ac.in/coap2024/ and COAP registration number is mandatory for filling the application form on the IIT Jammu application portal.
  • Admission offers will be made through the COAP portal.
