Documents required for filling GATE 2024 Application Form
Keep the following documents scanned beforehand to avoid hassles while filling up the application form for GATE 2024.
NOTE: Ensure that the uploaded documents are readable and clear. Uploading unreadable documents may lead to delays in processing the application and may lead to rejection of candidature.
- Photo ID Card– Scanned copy of valid photo Identity document ( any one)
Aadhar-UID (preferable)
- Passport
- PAN Card
- Voter ID
- Driving License
The photo ID must have Name, Date of birth of the candidate and a unique photo ID number. This photo ID must be carried in the original to the examination hall for verification.
- Photograph – High quality image of candidate’s photograph conforming to the requirements specified in the Information Brochure.
- Signature – High quality image of candidate’s signature conforming to the requirements specified in the Information Brochure.
- SC/ST Certificate (If applicable) – Scanned copy of Category (SC/ST) certificate in pdf format (if applicable).
- PWD Certificate ((If applicable)- Scanned copy of PwD Certificate in pdf format (if applicable).
- Certificate of Dyslexia (If applicable) – Scanned copy of Certificate of Dyslexia in pdf format (if applicable).
Steps to fill GATE 2024 Registration Form
The GATE 2024 registration process cannot be overlooked by the candidates. One has to follow all stepf for GATE registration in the following sequence-
REGISTER → FILL THE APPLICATION FORM → PAY APPLICATION FEE → SUBMIT
- Registration
A candidate must first register by providing full name, valid e-mail address, mobile number and by choosing a password. All communication will be sent to this e-mail address and mobile number. Only one registration per email address is allowed. No change in email or mobile number will be entertained at a later stage.
- Enrolment ID
Each registration will be provided with a unique Enrolment ID, which will be communicated to the candidate by e-mail. The Enrolment ID will be needed for reference in future communication pertaining to the examination.
- Password
The candidate must choose a password during enrolment and will be needed to log in to the account. It is recommended to choose a password that cannot be guessed easily. The password must be kept confidential.
The online application process is self-explanatory and user-friendly.
- Enter Personal details (name of the candidate, date of birth, mobile number, name and mobile number of parent or guardian, etc.).
NOTE- Prefixes/titles such as Mr./Shri/Dr./Mrs./Smt./Prof./Capt./Maj./Lt./Col. etc. must not be used.
The name of the candidate in the application form must be exactly the same as that in the valid photo ID, which the candidate must produce in original while appearing for GATE 2024 examination at the centre. Candidates are advised to ensure that the date of birth provided in the application form matches exactly with that mentioned in the photo ID.
- Enter Address for communication including PIN code
- Enter Eligibility degree details
- Enter College name and address with PIN code
- Enter Choice of GATE paper(s) and their codes in which the candidate wishes to appear.
- Enter Choice of GATE examination cities
You may choose THREE cities from the given list (from the same zone).
- Good quality image of the candidate’s photograph conforming to the specifications
- Good quality image of the candidate’s signature conforming to the specifications
- Scanned copy of valid photo Identity Document (ID)
- PDF copy of Category (SC/ST) certificate (if applicable)
- PDF copy of PwD Certificate (if applicable)
- PDF copy of Dyslexic Certificate (if applicable)
- Pay the GATE 2024 Application Fee. You may pay via Net-banking /debit card / credit card / UPI / wallet.
Before proceeding to payment, the candidate is advised to check the filled-in application form for any errors. Once the candidate clicks “Submit and Proceed to Payment” button, no changes can be made to the application.Before submitting the online application form, the candidate will be asked to read and accept a declaration that the details furnished are correct and that falsification of data will attract appropriate consequences.
GATE 2024 Application Form Fees: For Exam Centres in India
GATE 2024 Application Form is incomplete without paying the fee as applicable. A candidate can apply for a maximum of two papers. The following table shows the application fee per paper. Exams for GATE 2024 will be conducted online only at exam centres located within India.It will NOT be conducted in centres outside India.
How to Check GATE 2024 Application Status?
To check the 2024 GATE Application Status, candidates are required to login at GATE 2024 registration link using their login credentials. Candidates should not worry if the GATE application status is “Under Scrutiny/Under Process”. All GATE 2024 application forms are examined by the appropriate authorities, and those applicants whose applications require corrections with regard to their image, signature, or supporting documentation are automatically sent an email or SMS.
GATE Application Form 2024 Correction Fee
Candidates can modify their application form for GATE 2024 between 4th of November to 11th of November 2023 by paying the applicable charges. No modification after the 11th of November will be allowed on the portal.

Ans. NO. The two papers option may be selected based on the given set of combinations in a SINGLE form only.
Q. Why should I choose THREE examination cities?
Ans. The candidates will most likely be allotted a centre in the examination city of their first choice. Only in cases where there are too many candidates opting for a certain city as their first choice, the other two choices become relevant. The candidates are required to fill their choices of cities to appear in the examination, but should remember that because of operational constraints, the GATE committee reserves the right to add a new city or remove an existing one, and allot a city that may not be any of the choices of a candidate.
Q. Does the OBC (non-creamy layer) or EWS candidate need to upload the category certificate?
Ans. No
Q. How do I make the fee payment for the GATE 2024 examination?
Ans. The payment option will appear after filling the online application form in GATE 2024 website. The candidate can opt for any of the payment options listed over there. The additional charges such as service charges, processing fees or bank charges, have to be borne by the candidate.
Q. What do I do, if power/Internet connection fails during an online payment?
Ans. When you can get back online, login back to GATE 2024 website and check the status of the payment. If the payment was received by GATE, you can continue the process of printing the application form. If the payment was not received by GATE 2024, you may initiate a fresh payment.In case, any fee amount that has been debited (deducted) from your bank account, but not received any acknowledgement for fee payment from GATE 2024, then the money will be credited back to your account. However, this may take a week or more.
Q. Money has been debited from my account more than once. How do I get the money back?
Ans. All multiple payments received on behalf of GATE 2024 from your account with respect to one application, will automatically be returned (credited) to the same bank account. However, this may take a week or more.
Q. After completing the ONLINE application process and generating a PDF file, will I be able to change my application data?
Ans. NO. After completing all the steps up to PDF application form generation in the ONLINE application process, you can only download the application form and CANNOT modify the data. Hence, you need to be very careful while entering the data.
Q. I have missed to take a print-out of my ONLINE application at the end of my application process. How will I get access to it?
Ans. You can login using Enrolment ID and password and take a print-out for your own reference.The print-out must not be sent to GATE Organising Institute or Zonal Office.
Q. If I have not uploaded the photograph as per the specifications mentioned, will my application be rejected?
Ans. Your application will be marked DEFECTIVE. You will be intimated by email, SMS or phone call from your respective Zone to RECTIFY your DEFECT (by uploading a new photograph). You will be given chances for rectification up to the deadline, beyond which your application will either be considered as PROVISIONAL or REJECTED.
Q. I have requested for a change in the examination city with the new city/cities by paying additional fee. Will I get the new city added?
Ans. It is not ensured that you will get a newly added city only. You will get one of the cities out of three choices given depending upon the availability of the seats in that city.
Q. I want to withdraw my application. Will my application fee be refunded?
Ans. NO.
