VITREE 2019 (December) - VIT University invites applications from interested candidates for admission into PhD/Integrated PhD research programmes for the December Session 2019.

  1. Last date for closing of online application: 22nd November 2019
  2. Last date for submitting hard copy of applications at respective campuses of VIT along with Xerox of all certificates: 25th November 2019
  3. Date and Time of Test (CBT): 14th December 2019, Time: 10 am –12 noon
  4. Venue: (VIT-Vellore/VIT-Chennai/VIT-AP(Amaravati)/VIT-Bhopal)
  5. Date of Personal Interview for shortlisted candidates: 14th December 2019, Time: 2.00 pm onwards
  6. Results (tentative): 18th December 2019
  7. Reporting to the Dean/Director concerned school to select guide & payment fees at their campus of choice before: 06th January 2020

 

Eligibility Criteria for VIT University PhD Admission 2019 (December)

Minimum Qualification

  1. (10+2+4+2 or any equivalent for Ph.D. in Engineering )
  2. (10+2+3+2 or any equivalent for Ph.D. in Non-Engineering )

 

For Ph.D. in Engineering:

  1. Master’s degree in Engineering/Technology in the relevant discipline with a first class or a minimum of 60% marks/ CGPA 6.5 on a 10 point scale in cases where the University/Institute does not award any class or
  2. Equivalent qualifications like M.Sc. (Engineering) / M.S. [By Research.] / M.Tech [By Research].
  3. M.Sc Computer Science, M.Sc(IT), MCA and M.S.Software Engg.) degree holders are not eligible to apply for PhD. Program.

 

For Integrated Ph.D in Engineering / Technology:

  1. Bachelor’s Students with outstanding academic record in the Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology with an aptitude towards advanced scientific and technological research are eligible to apply. A minimum of 80% marks or a CGPA of 8.0 is mandatory. Candidates who are appearing for the final examination can also apply provided they meet all the requirements before admission.

 

For Ph. D in Sciences:

  1. Master’s degree in a relevant discipline of Science with a first class (or a minimum of 60% marks/CGPA 6.5 on a 10 point scale in cases where the University/ Institute does not award any class).

 

For Ph. D in Languages:

  1. Master’s degree with a minimum of 55% marks or 6.0 CGPA

 

For Ph.D in Management:

  1. Master in Business Administration or M.E./ M.Tech. with a first class or a minimum of 60% marks/CGPA 6.5 on a 10 point scale in cases where the University/Institute does not award any class.

 

For Ph.D. in Law

  1. Master's Degree in law (LLM/ML) from any recognized University/Institute, in the relevant field with a minimum of 55% marks or 6.0 CGPA.

 

For Ph. D in Fashion Technology:

  1. M.Tech./M.E./M.Fashion Tech/M.S.[By Research]/M.Tech[By Research] in the field of Textile/Textile Engineering/Fibre Science/Textile Chemical Processing/Fashion/Apparel/Garment with a first class or a minimum of 60% marks/CGPA 6.5 on a 10 point scale in cases where the University/Institute does not award any class.

Categories
Internal Full Time candidates:

  1. A candidate who wishes to work for Ph.D / Integrated Ph.D degree on a full time basis (including project staff working in sponsored projects being carried out at VIT) should apply in the prescribed form on or before the specified date.

 

External Part Time candidates

  1. Teachers working in other colleges in a permanent position and candidates sponsored by R&D organizations of following categories are eligible to apply to work on a part time basis for Ph.D degree:
  2. Laboratories run by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research/ Department of Atomic Energy / Department of Space etc.
  3. Public Sector undertakings with R & D Units

Selection Procedure for Non Nri/Foreign Candidates Ph.D

  1. Applicants along with a printed copy of application and necessary enclosures, should also submit a proposal containing field of Research, Proposed Title of the work, Research Problem, Scientific Background, Research Gap, Novelty, Objectives, Methodology, Research time Plan (Chart): and Possible outcome. This will also be assessed for selection.
  2. Ph.D. candidates, who satisfy the criteria prescribed, shall appear for VITREE 2019, a computer based test (CBT) for 2 hours on December 14th, 2019 at their test venue of Campus of choice. Change of Venue Campus, date of Interview or program will not be permitted.
  3. The question paper will have 100 MCQs (Technical – 70 questions; English communication skills – 15 questions; Statistics and probability – 15 questions).
  4. The shortlisted candidates should appear for personal interview at the campus of their choice on December 14th, 2019 at 2.00 PM onwards.
  5. The selected candidates will be intimated by December 18th, 2019 and they should report in the appropriate campus to select a guide and to complete the admission process before January 6th, 2020.

 

Integrated Ph.D

  1. Applicants for Integrated Ph.D. should send a copy of application along with necessary enclosures and a research proposal containing the name of the candidate, Field of Research, Proposed Title of the work, Research Problem, Scientific
  2. Background, Research Gap, Novel, Objectives, Methodology, Research time Plan (Chart) and Possible outcome. This will also be assessed for selection. The Integrated Ph.D. applicants who satisfy the criteria prescribed, shall appear for VITREE-2019 to be held at their test venue of Campus of choice on December,14th, 2019. The shortlisted candidates should appear for personal interview at the campus of their choice on December,14th, 2019 at 2.00 PM onwards.
  3. The objective type question paper will have 100 MCQs (Technical – 80 questions; English communication skills – 20 questions).
  4. The selected candidates will be intimated by December 18th, 2019 and they should report to the appropriate campus to select a guide and to complete the admission process before January 6th, 2020.

 

Research Fellowship

  1. All Internal Full-Time scholars admitted into Ph.D programme will get a fellowship of Rs.20,000/- per month
  2. All Internal Full-Time scholars admitted into Integrated Ph.D programme will get a fellowship of Rs.12,000/- per month for the first two years and Rs.20,000/- per month for the next two years.
  3. All Internal Full-Time scholars who have a valid GATE score percentile of 80 and above will get an additional fellowship of Rs.5,000/- per month.
  4. Apart from this, scholars are encouraged to apply for JRF (CSIR / UGC) / Inspire Fellowships / Rajiv Gandhi Scholarships (minority community and backward community).

 

VITREE 2019 (December) Application Process

  1. Applicants are advised to fill the application form online by log in to the official website www.vit.ac.in
  2. Application cost of Rs. 1200 to be paid online through Net banking/Debit/Credit card
  3. Candidate is expected to arrive at the examination hall at least 1 hour before the commencement of examination, with Admit Card ( hard copy). If the candidate does not report on time, they are likely to miss the general instructions given in Exam Hall.
  4. A candidate who does not possess the admit card issued by VIT shall not be permitted to attend exam under any circumstances.
  5. Candidate will not be permitted to enter into examination hall after 10.15 am .
  6. Candidate is instructed to complete Registration Process with the help of Hall Invigilators
  7. Candidate will be allotted a computer system by Hall Invigilator to take the Computer Based Test (CBT)
  8. Candidates are requested to keep the Admit Card safely with them and bring it during the Admission Process. Candidate should produce it on demand.
