IIAD Design Aptitude Test (iDAT) 2019 - Indian Institute of Art and Design (IIAD), New Delhi invites applications for admission to Bachelor of Arts (B.A Honours) offered in Fashion Design, Interior Architecture & Design and Communication Design Program for the academic session 2019


The Indian Institute of Art and Design (IIAD) in collaboration with Kingston University, London, offers a creative, studio based education through its three rigorous Bachelor degree Program in Fashion Design, Interior Architecture & Design, and Communication Design.

IIAD Design Aptitude Test (iDAT) 2019 Important Dates

  • Round 1 Admission Cycle (December 2018)

IIAD Design Aptitude Test (iDAT) 2019 Application Form

  • Each year IIAD accepts a select number of students to its undergraduate programs purely based on merit. It is therefore strongly recommended to begin the Application Process at an early stage to get the program of your choice.

Online Applicants

  • Candidates who wish to apply to the Undergraduate Programs can submit their Application Form along with necessary documents by registering themselves at IIAD’s Online Application Portal www.applytoiiad.com
  • Once you have clicked on the "final submit" button you will be able to view your completed form. On the top right hand corner of your completed form there is a download button available for you to download your completed form

Offline Applications

  • Alternatively, interested candidates can visit the Campus, collect the Application Form and submit it along with necessary documents to the IIAD Admissions Office.
  • The application form and brochure is also available at select outlets at a fee of Rs.2000/-; if this fee is paid at the time of purchase from any outlet, the fee need not be paid again at the time of application submission

 

IIAD Design Aptitude Test (iDAT) 2019 Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates who have passed their Class XII Examination (or equivalent), or who are appearing for it in 2019 are considered eligible to apply.
  • IIAD accepts students from any of the below listed Boards of Education:
  • Candidates who have recently appeared for the examination and are awaiting their Results may also apply
  • Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE)
  • Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE)
  • Indian State Boards
  • National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS)
  • International Baccalaureate (IB)
  • Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) Or any other approved National or International Board of Education

 

Selection Procedure

  • The IIAD Entrance Examination is conducted at various Test Centres and comprises the following rounds.

IIAD Part A - Design Aptitude Test (iDAT)

  • A mandatory written test of 2.5 hrs duration, that tests the candidate’s Logical Reasoning, Creative Thinking and Visual Aptitude.

Part B - iDAT Studio Simulation

  • A personal interaction session conducted in small groups, simulating a design studio experience. Candidates are expected to exhibit their creative thinking, teamwork, articulation and problem-solving abilities. The session is conducted in a studio environment of approximately 2 hours duration.
  • IIAD accepts applications for transfer to IIAD for the design program (in either Fashion Design, Communication Design or Interior Architecture & Design) from students who have successfully completed previous year(s) of their design degree/diploma program from a nationally or internationally recognized Design Institute.

Entrance Examination

  • The iDAT is a mandatory two-hour test for all applicants and will be administered at prescribed testing centres
  • The IIAD Admission Committee will review each student's aptitude for observation, drawing and design skills, imaginative and creative expression, and visual and communication strengths

Test Centres

  • Bangalore, Bhopal, Indore, Jaipur, Kanpur, Kolkata, Kochi
  • Lucknow, Ludhiana, Patna
  • iDAT examinees will need to bring: (a)Pens/Pencils, (b) Dry colours (pencils/pastes), (c)A ruler, (d) A pen, (e) A glue stick and (f) A small pair of scissors

Personal interview

  • The applicant will be evaluated on his/her understanding of basic art and design concepts and industry awareness; emphasis will be placed on the individual's maturity, confidence and communication skills

Personal portfolio

  • Each candidate appearing for a personal interview MUST carry his/her creative portfolio; a quality portfolio carries 50% weightage of the total evaluation at the interview/assessment stage

Scholarship Application

  • IIAD offers scholarships to meritorious students
  • Candidates with a 70% aggregate in the CBSE/ISC/IB (or any other equivalent board) 10+2 exam in any discipline may apply for scholarship
  • The final result will depend also on performance in the IIAD Design Aptitude Test (iDAT), personal interview and portfolio review

Application Fee

  • An Application Fee of INR 2,000 must be paid at the time of submission of the Application Form.
  • On successful completion of the Application Form candidates shall receive an acknowledgement email from the Admissions Team with relevant information.
