

Admissions open for Post Graduate Diploma in Management- 2012
The Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) is the first foray of Great Lakes Institute of Management into the two-year management education space. The program has a clear focus on emerging economies and their growth. An AICTE approved program, PGDM offers a unique and nonpareil coverage of the economies of China, Far-East, Latin America and Africa in comparison to the India growth story. The PGDM has been designed by the Great Lakes Academic Advisory Council, which comprises the best in the world of managerial academia. This in turn has been streamlined with inputs from the Institute’s illustrious Business Advisory Council, to keep it in sync with the needs of an ever changing market place

The course helps the students to develop into business-ready managers, capable of responding to complex business requirements that arise in a changing global business environment.
Short term international immersions, optional study-a-semester-abroad programs, joint summers with global student pools, CEO mentoring, entrepreneurial incubation, experiential learning through simulation etc are some of the features that are being conceived for this program

(Great Lakes uses CAT scores only for screening applications for admissions and IIMs have no role in the conduct of Great Lakes academic programs; Great Lakes is not an associate institute of XLRI but uses XAT scores only for screening applicants for admission; XLRI has no role to play in the conduct of any of Great Lakes Management programs)
For PGDM 2012, Great Lakes Institute of Management will accept CAT-2010/2011 scores/XAT-2011/2012 scores/MAT-2011/2012 scores/CMAT-2012/GMAT scores taken after 01st January, 2010
All applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized institution with minimum 50% marks
Fresher’s and candidates with upto 24 months of work-experience are only eligible to apply
Candidates with greater than 24 months of work-experience are requested to apply for the Great Lakes PGPM program
There will be a special preference for college/university rank holders in terms of an extra weightage gained as part of the selection process. The onus of proof of rank is vested on the applicant
Candidates meeting the eligibility criteria can apply to Great Lakes Institute of Management by completing the online application process
Candidates can choose to apply by any of the following methods
Visit the website www.greatlakes.edu.in and fill in the online application form after making a payment of INR 1,500
Make a payment of INR 1,500 at select vendor outlet centers IMS, TIME and Axis Bank and procure a coded number key for applying online
The admission kits will be available in the above 3 centers from the third week of November, 2011
Purchase the application form from the Great Lakes offices in Chennai and New Delhi
The eventual application process is online for all candidates
Candidates have to provide the official email-id of the recommender. The recommendation letter must be submitted online

Evaluation Process: Applicants are evaluated based on GMAT/CAT/XAT scores, past academic performance, essays and letters of recommendation, work experience and performance in the interview and group discussions
The selection process builds in a criterion that facilitates evaluating each applicant on;
Academic abilities: The program at Great Lakes is highly demanding and intense; candidates with consistent academic background and an ability to sustain pressure make the shortlist
Standardized test scores: To eliminate inconsistencies between colleges and universities at the undergraduate level, Great Lakes considers GMAT/CAT/XAT scores in the overall assessment
Rank holders: The program gives a clear advantage/brownie points to college/university rank holders
Integrity and ethical values: Great Lakes lays emphasis on integrity and values including originality. Plagiarism will be probed thoroughly during the process
Diversity of background: At Great Lakes, diversity in academic background facilitates peer learning which transforms uncut stones into diamonds. We will actively try to bring in an academic diversity into the PGDM class room

Students are compulsorily required to have their own laptop as per institute specifications
Semester Abroad program and Summer Internship will attract additional cost
Placement: Since the PGDM program is being offered for the first time we do not have any placement statistics at this point for PGDM
