IPR Gandhinagar JRF Admissions 2018 – Institute of Plasma Research (IPR), Gandhinagar invites application for Junior Research Fellowship Admission 2018

IPR Details

  • IPR is a premier scientific research institute under the Dept. of Atomic Energy, Govt. of India
  • IPR is located in Bhat Village, Gandhinagar, Gujarat. It has extension laboratories Facilitation Center for Industrial Plasma Technologies (FCIPT) at GIDC, Gandhinagar, Gujarat and Center for Plasma Physics (CPP) at Guwahati, Assam
  • IPR is devoted to a wide range of research and development activities in the field of fundamental plasma physics, thermonuclear fusion as well as plasma technologies for industrial, medical, agricultural, textile, space & materials science applications
  • Applications are invited from highly motivated students to pursue doctoral research in the broad areas of experimental, computational and theoretical plasma physics

Important Dates

  • Opening Date for Online Application: 26th March 2018 (10:00 AM)
  • Closing Date for Online Application: 15th April 2018 (5:00 PM)
  • Closing Date for receiving hard copy of Application by Post/Courier: 21st April 2018 (5.00 pm)

 

Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates should have qualified at least one of the national level exams:
  • JEST-2018 (in Physics)
  • GATE in Physics (Paper code PH) valid for 2016/2017/2018 and

CSIR–UGC-JRF-NET in June 2017 or Dec. 2017 in Physical Sciences (Subject code PHY)

Educational Qualifications

  • M.Sc. in one of the following subjects: Physics, Engineering Physics or Applied Physics with a minimum aggregate of 60%. Students must have Physics and Mathematics at the undergraduate level. Candidates expecting a Master’s degree in any one of the above subjects by August 31st 2018 can also apply

 

Age Limit

  • Not more than 26 years as on 01st Aug. 2018 (born on or after 01/08/1992)
  • Age relaxation is admissible to SC/ST/OBC/PWD etc. as per Government of India orders on the subject from time to time

 

Selection Procedure

  • The candidates who satisfy the above criteria may apply
  • Shortlisted candidates will be invited to appear for a personal interview at IPR. The selection of the candidates shall be based on two rounds of personal interviews
  • Candidates who qualify in the first round will be asked to appear for second round of comprehensive interview, which may spill over the next day
  • The candidates are therefore requested to make their own arrangements for overnight stay in proximity to IPR. Request for a change of date or time of interview shall not be entertained
  • Interviews shall be conducted during 22nd May to 25th May 2018
  • Candidates selected for interview will be paid to-and-fro sleeper class railway fare via the shortest route on production of valid tickets

 

Stipend & Facilities

  • Selected students will be enrolled under Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI), a deemed-to-be university of Dept. of Atomic Energy (DAE), Govt. of India
  • A consolidated stipend of Rs.25000/- per month shall be paid as JRF during first two years
  • Stipend will be raised to Rs.28000/- per month as SRF, subject to satisfactory academic review. In addition, a book grant of Rs.32000/- per year shall be paid
  • Partial support for attending international conferences may be given to the students during their PhD tenure as per IPR rules

  • Hard copy should be sent strictly by Registered post/Speed Post
