The Leibniz Institute of European History (IEG) awards Research Fellowship for international postdoctoral in Germany

 

The Leibniz Institute of European History (IEG) awards research scholarships and fellowships to young academics (doctoral and postdoctoral researchers) from Germany and abroad

 

Funding is provided for both doctoral and postdoctoral research dealing with the religious, political, social and cultural history of Europe from the early modern period to 1989/90

Objective

This fellowship is intended to help you develop your own research project in close collaboration with scholars working at the IEG. Your contribution consists in bringing your own interests to bear on the work of the IEG and its research program "negotiating difference in Europe"

 

Applicant Profile

The IEG awards Postdoctoral Research Fellowships to young academics from Germany and abroad who have completed their doctoral dissertations and are pursuing a new research project. The IEG offers them the opportunity to create the foundations for their continuing academic career as independent researchers

 

The academics in the IEG research areas are keen to interact with Postdoctoral Research Fellows

 

Scholarship Award

Funding is € 1,800/month. Research fellows live and work for between 6 and 12 months at the Institute in Mainz and can pursue their individual research project (extension possible)

 

Eligibility

Applicants must have completed their doctorate no more than three years before taking up the fellowship

Fellows are required to register officially as residents in Mainz and to take part in events at the Institute. Fellows are not permitted to undertake paid work while receiving the IEG fellowship

The language use at the IEG are German and English; fellows must have a passive command of both and an active command of at least one of the two languages so as to participate in the discussions at the Institute

(a) Completed application form; (b) curriculum vitae; list of publications (if available); (c) brief description of the proposed project with a detailed working plan and schedule for the in-tended stay at the Institute (5 pages/ 15,000 characters excluding spaces)
