Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana KVPY 2018 Fellowship

KVPY 2018 Fellowship - The Department of Science and Technology (DST), Govt. of India, sponsored Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) Program, which is being run by Indian Institute of Science, is inviting applications for KVPY Fellowship 2018 to encourage the students who are studying Basic Sciences to take up research career in Science.


Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) Fellowship Award 2018 applications are invited from School and College Students Interested in pursuing basic Science Courses and Career in Research.

Important Dates for KVPY 2018

  • Online Application to apply for KVPY 2018 will be available from: 11th July 2018
  • Last Date for Closing of KVPY Online Application: 31st August 2018
  • KVPY 2018 Aptitude Test: 04th November 2018

 

KVPY Fellowship 2018 Details

  • Fellows under SA/SX/SB streams will receive a stipend of Rs.5000/- per month and a contingency grant of Rs.20000/- per annum during 1st to 3rd years of - B.Sc./BS/B.Stat./ B.Math/Integrated M.Sc./MS.
  • Fellows under SA/SX/SB streams will receive a stipend of Rs.7000/- per month and a contingency grant of Rs.28000/- per annum during M.Sc./4th to 5th years of Integrated M.Sc./MS/M.Math/M.Stat.

 

Eligibility Criteria

  • The KVPY Fellowships are given to Indian Nationals only to Study in India (Students holding PIO, OCI Card and students intending to pursue/pursue undergraduate program under Distance Education scheme/correspondence course of any university are not eligible to apply)
  • Students enrolled in an undergraduate course in Basic Sciences, that is, B.Sc/B.S./B.Stat/B.Math /Int. M.Sc./M.S. in Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Cell Biology, Ecology, Molecular Biology, Botany, Zoology, Physiology, Biotechnology, Neurosciences, Bioinformatics, Marine Biology, Geology, Human Biology, Genetics, Biomedical Sciences, Applied Physics, Geophysics, Materials Science or Environmental Science are eligible for KVPY Fellowship

Stream SA:

  • Students enrolled in XI Standard (Science Subjects) during the academic year 2018-19 and having secured a minimum of 75% (65% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate in MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE subjects in the X Standard Board examination. The fellowship of the students selected under this stream will be activated only if they join an undergraduate course in Basic Sciences (B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc. /Int. M.S.) in the academic year 2020-21 after having secured a minimum of  60% (50%for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate in Science subjects in the XII standard/(+2) Board Examination. During the interim period of one year they will be invited for the National Science (Vijyoshi) Camp and their travel and other related expenses will be met by KVPY.

Stream SX:

  • Students enrolled in XII Standard/ (+2) (Science subjects) during the academic year 2017–18 and aspiring to join undergraduate program in Basic Sciences namely Physics/Chemistry/Mathematics & Biology leading to  B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./Int. M.S. for the session 2019–20 provided they have secured a minimum of 75% (65% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate in MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE subjects (Physics/Chemistry/ Biology) in the X Standard Board Exam and a minimum of  60% (50% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate in MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE subjects (Physics/Chemistry/Biology) in the XII standard Board Exam.
  • Students in their 2nd year of study in Cambridge International Exam Board and aspiring to join an UG program (viz. B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./Int. M.S.) in Basic Sciences namely Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology in the Academic year 2018-19 are eligible to apply provided they have secured a minimum of 75% (65% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate in MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE subjects (Physics/Chemistry/Biology) in the X Standard Board Examination. They must secure 60% (50% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate in MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE subjects (Physics/Chemistry/Biology) in the XII standard Board Examination before taking up the fellowship, if awarded.

Stream SB:

  • Students enrolled in the 1st year of undergraduate program in Basic Sciences namely Physics/Chemistry/Mathematics & Biology leading to B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./Int. M.S. during the academic year 2018–19 and having secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate in MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE subjects (Physics/Chemistry/ Biology)  in the XII Standard Board Exam

  • In the 1st year final examination of B.Sc./B.S./B.Math./B.Stat./Int. M.Sc./Int. M.S. they must secure 60% (50% for SC/ST/PWD) marks before taking up the fellowship, if awarded.

 

Selection Process

  • Aptitude Test - After scrutiny of application forms and meeting the eligibility criteria for various streams, all eligible students will be called for aptitude test conducted both in Hindi and English at different Centers across the country in the 04th November 2018

 

Admit Card

  • Students may download the admit card for the aptitude test from the website from the first week of October 2018

Interview

  • Based on the performance in the aptitude test, shortlisted students will be asked to appear for an interview which is the final stage of the selection procedure

 

Application Form

  • Students holding PIO, OCI card and students intending to be pursuing undergraduate program under distance education scheme are not eligible. Application forms may be downloaded from the KVPY website www.kvpy.org.in
  • Those who are unable to do so, may request for a hard copy enclosing there with the paid Bank Challan/pay-in-slip (available at www.kvpy.org.in) clearly indicating the stream (SA/SX/SB) on the envelope
  • Processing Fee of Rs 1000/- may be remitted at any core-banking branch of State Bank of India to the credit of Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) A/c Number 10270577392
