IIT Full Form

The Full form of IIT is Indian Institute of Technology. IIT is the most renowned and prestigious engineering institute in India. This is an autonomous public engineering institute providing higher education in the discipline of engineering. In India, there are around 16 IITs, which are governed by the Institutes of Technology Act, 1961. IIT runs various Graduate and Post-Graduate programs in the field of electrical and electronics engineering, Mechanical engineering, civil engineering, computer science, Architecture and planning etc. The IITs are linked to one another through a common IIT Council established to oversee their administration. Getting admission into IITs is considered to be very difficult task and people who have graduated from IITs have done great things. IITs follow a common procedure which is JEE (Advanced Joint Entrance Examination) for undergraduate admissions into B.Tech programme. For the admission into M.Tech and PhD programmes in IIT, GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) is conducted jointly by IITs and IISc. The list of some popular courses offered by IITs are Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering etc.
