University of Burdwan announces admission to five years B.A. LL.B Hons Course for 2014 session.
A Candidate concerned, while prosecuting a regular course of study in Law under this University, shall neither take up nor shall be permitted to take up any other course simultaneously
Candidates must verify eligibility and age before collecting the application forms
No of Seats: 80 in each college
Course Fee: Rs. 25000/- per annum

Eligibility:

For admission to 5- Year BA -LLB (Hons) Course, every candidate shall have to pass the Higher Secondary Examination under 10+2 pattern or its equivalent examination securing not below 45% of the total marks in case of general category and 40% of the total marks in case of SC/ST applicants
Note: In the calculation of percentage of marks at (10+2) level, marks of one or two Language Papers as available in the mark sheet & the best three Elective Subjects (i.e. full marks 400/500) will be considered. Marks of Environmental studies will not be considered
Age Limit: The maximum age of a candidate, seeking admission into 5-Year B.A. LL.B (Hons) Course, shall not exceed 20 (twenty) years on the 1st of July in the relevant year in case of general category and 22 (twenty two) years in case of SC/ST /OBC applicants
Candidates, who are seeking relaxation in marks and age under SC/ST category, must enclose attested photo copy of the Certificate obtained from the competent authority to authenticate their claim
The certificate must be obtained from one of the authorities listed below:
i) Deputy Director, Backward Classes Welfare, West Bengal and Commissioner, Backward Classes Welfare, West Bengal in case of candidates claiming to be Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe residing in any part of West Bengal
ii) Deputy Commissioner of Land Revenue, Kolkata Collector of Stamp Revenue, Kolkata, Metropolitan Magistrate, Kolkata, Addl. Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Kolkata, Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Kolkata, 1st Class Stipendiary Magistrate, Executive Magistrate, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Sub-Divisional Officer, Deputy Collector, Addl. District Magistrate, Collector and District Magistrate with their respective jurisdictions in case of candidates claiming to be Scheduled Cast or Scheduled Tribe and ordinary residing within such jurisdictions

How to Apply?

Submission of Application Forms: Duly filled in downloaded application form, accompanied by a Demand Draft of Rs. 250/- (i.e. cost of application form) drawn in favour of the Finance Officer, B.U., payable at SBI, BU Branch, Burdwan, along with the attested photo copies of Admit Card (MP or its equivalent exam), Mark Sheets of all the Public Examinations passed and SC/ ST/OBC Certificate (for relaxation in marks and/ or age only), shall be submitted, either personally or by representative, to the Office of the Secretary, Council for U.G. Studies in Arts, Sc., Comm. Etc., B.U., Rajbati, Burdwan on or before 18th July 2014 (except Saturday, Sunday & holidays)

Selection Procedure

Selection for admission to the course shall be made strictly on the basis of merit to be determined by the percentage of marks obtained at the Higher Secondary Examination under 10+2 pattern or its equivalent examination
In case of tie, marks of English at the Higher Secondary Examination under 10+2 pattern or its equivalent examination will be compared
Marks of English at the Madhyamik Pariksha or its equivalent examination will be considered as the third criterion, if needed


Publication of List: Provisional list for admission will be published on 25th July 2014 on the notice board of the Office of the Secretary, Council for U.G. Studies in Arts, Sc., Comm. Etc., B.U., Rajbati, Burdwan and the same will be available on the University Website (http/www.buruniv.ac.in) as well
Class Attendance: If a student concerned fails to attend the minimum of 70% of the total lectures delivered in a semester, he/ she shall not be allowed to appear in that examination, Provided that if a student of semester-I fails to attend the requisite minimum number of lectures delivered as mentioned, shall not get readmission and he/ she shall have to take admission afresh, Provided that from the second semester onward, if a candidate is declared discollegiate due to shortage of required no. of attendance, he/ she may be allowed to take readmission in that semester on the recommendation of the appropriate authority
