NTA revised JEE Main 2021 Tie-breaking criteria

The National Testing Agency has revised the Tie-breaking criteria for Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2021. The result of the final session is expected to be released soon on the official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in.

NTA follows a normalization procedure to decide JEE Main 2021 Rank as the difficulty associated with each shift is different.  Earlier, when two or more students score the identical NTA score then the Rank of the students was decided with higher NTA scores in Mathematics followed by Physics and Chemistry respectively. If the tie remains, students with less proportion of negative responses followed by age were the criteria.

However, this year NTA has removed the age criteria from the tie-breaking policy.  As per the revised Tie-breaking criteria, the candidates rank will be decided with the candidate’s NTA score in Mathematics, followed by Physics, followed by Chemistry, If the tie remains, candidates having lesser ratio of negative to positive responses will get a higher rank.

If a tie persists after following the above criteria, students would be awarded the same rank.

Candidates securing ranks in the top 2.5 lakhs would be able to appear for the advanced examination. The registration process for JEE advanced would begin on September 11 and conclude on September 16 on jeeadv.ac.in.  JEE Advanced 2021 would be conducted on October 3 in two shifts.
