About INR

INR Full FormIndian Rupee or INR is the official currency of India. The issuance of the money is taken care of by the Reserve Bank of India or RBI. RBI is in charge of controlling INR and this power was issued to this Government Organisation in the year 1934, through the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934. 1 rupee can also be converted to 100 paise, though paise is not much in use as of 2022. When it first came out, INR was denoted by the terms Rs. (multiple of rupees) and Re.(one rupee). But on 15 July, 2010, a man named Udaya Kumar introduced the symbol ₹ as an alternative to Rs and Re. This symbol is derived from both Devanagari and Latin scripts. The parallel lines and the white lines in the top of the symbol represent equality and the nation’s desire to reduce economic disparities. On 15th August 1947, the exchange rate between Indian rupee and US Dollar was equal to one i.e., 1 $= 1 Indian Rupee. On 8th November 2016, the Government of India demonetised the 500 and 1,000 denominations banknotes to bring a stop in the circulation of black money.
