The Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) is an international non-profit organisation of business schools that provides products and services to academic institutions and prospective graduate management education students. The organisation owns the Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT), a standardised assessment that is widely used by graduate business administration programs (e.g. MBA, Master of Accountancy, Master of Finance, etc.) to measure quantitative, verbal, analytical and integrated reasoning skills in applicants.

The NMAT by GMAC is used for admissions to some of the leading graduate business programmes in India. Since becoming a computer based test in 2009, the NMAT by GMAC has been at the forefront of measurement in India as a valid and reliable predictor of success in graduate business school. The NMAT by GMAC exam opens doors to the leading management programmes in India. The NMIMS Management Aptitude Test (NMAT)is an entrance examination for admission to NMIMS Mumbai. The exam is conducted to check the candidates ability in Data Interpretation, Data Sufficiency, Quantitative Skills, and Logical Reasoning.

There are 3 sections in the NMAT test namely Language Skills, Quantitative Skills and Logical Reasoning. These sections will have 32, 48, and 40 questions to be attempted in 22, 60 and 38 minutes respectively. The test follows object type multiple choice format. An interesting feature of this exam is that the students can select the order in which they can attempt the sections.

EXAM PATTERN OF NMAT BY GMAC

To bring India to global standards two things need to happen. One is that schools should come together on a common multi-school test. Take a test and apply to multiple places using the same test. The second thing is that tests should be statistically predictive, using the science of psychometrics. The NMAT test in India is built around psychometric principles; it has some predictive capabilities and is computer based. Some of the institutes that has accepted the scores of NMAT by GMAC are
