AIIMS B.Sc Nursing Exam
The All India Institute of Medical Sciences offers two courses through its nursing exam, namely the B.Sc Nursing (Post Basic) and B.Sc. (Hons.) Nursing and Paramedical (only female candidates are eligible). The exam is a national-level exam and is conducted once a year. It is a computer-based exam. The candidate is awarded +1 for each correct answer and -1/3 is deducted for each incorrect answer. The language of conduction and that of the questions asked in the exam both is English. The seats offered for BSc Nursing (Post-Basic) are 20 and for BSc Nursing (Hons.) are 571.
The exam is conducted for a duration of 90 minutes and consists of multiple- choice questions. This exam specifically has a two- stage selection process, i.e., the written examination and the personal interview. The written examination consists of the following sections:-
- Fundamentals of Nursing
- Medical-Surgical Nursing including Anatomy, Physiology & Pharmacology, Obstetrics Nursing and Midwifery, Pediatric Nursing, Community Health Nursing, etc.
The candidates who clear the written examination and make it to the merit list are called in for the personal interview. The stage two is of 30 marks. The assessment will primarily be based on the following criteria:-
- Academic performance in class 12 or equivalent examination
- Academic performance in the Nursing examination
- Performance as a Staff Nurse
The exam is conducted for a duration of 120 minutes and consists of multiple- choice questions. The total marks a candidate can obtain in the exam are 100. It consists of 4 sections:-
- Physics- 30 marks
- Chemistry- 30 marks
- Biology- 30 marks
- General knowledge- 10 marks
NEET- UG
National Eligibility CUM Entrance Test or NEET-UG is a pre-medical entrance test conducted by the National Testing Agency for admissions into undergraduate medicine(MBBS), dental(BDS) and AYUSH medicine(BAMS,BUMS,BHMS,etc) and nursing programs. A candidate wishing to give this test to pursue nursing must have had Physics, Chemistry and Biology and English in class 12th. The exam consists of three sections, i.e., Physics, Chemistry, Biology( Zoology and Botany), for a duration of 3 hours and a total of 180 questions. The exam is objective-type with total marks a candidate can score being 720. The candidate is awarded +4 for each correct answer and -1 is deducted for each incorrect answer. Through the scores of NEET the candidate can apply to a wide array of colleges that accept this exam’s score and thus, gain admission into them.
PGI Chandigarh Nursing Exam
The Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research, Chandigarh is another renowned medical institute that offers an exemplary B.Sc Nursing programme, through its own entrance exam. The exam is an institute level exam and is computer- based. It takes place for a duration of 90 minutes with the language of conduction and questions asked in the exam being English. This programme is a 4 year programme and is only for female candidates. It is an extremely competitive exam to give with the total number of seats for the General category being 47 and that of SC,ST and OBC being 14,7 and 25, respectively. The total number of questions asked in the exam are 100. The candidate is awarded +1 for each correct answer and -0.25 is deducted for each incorrect answer.
AJEE (AISECT Joint Entrance Exam)
The AISECT University conducts AISECT Joint Entrance Exam (AJEE) each year for admission into various courses offered by the AISECT University, including B.Sc Nursing and GNM. The exam is a national level exam and conducted both in online and offline mode and the medium of the exam is English. The total duration of the exam is 120 minutes. In order to be eligible for B.Sc. Nursing it’s compulsory for the candidates to have passed class 12th and secured a minimum of 45% marks in Biology. The maximum marks are 100 and there is no negative marking. The exam is an objective-type exam with only multiple-choice questions.
UP CNET
The Combined Nursing Entrance Test is a state-level exam conducted every year by the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University. It is of 120 minutes and consists of multiple-choice questions. The exam is divided into 2 sections/papers:-
- Paper 1: Only for Science students
Consists of 4 subjects that are asked namely, Physics, Math, Biology and Chemistry with 33,34,34 and 33 questions asked in each subject, respectively.
- Paper 2: Only for Arts/Commerce/Other students
Consists of 3 subjects, i.e., General studies, General English and General Hindi with 60,20 and 20 questions asked in each subject, respectively.
Inorder to attempt this exam the candidate needs to be a resident of Uttar Pradesh and should be a minimum of 17 years old and a maximum of 35 years old. Also, the candidate should have passed their 12th from a recognized board.
SGPGIMS Nursing Entrance Exam
The Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow is the examination body of SGPGI- Nursing each year. The exam is 120 minutes long. A candidate wishing to give this test to pursue nursing must have had Physics, Chemistry and Biology and English in class 12th, and should have scored a minimum of 50% marks. The candidate to be eligible needs to be more than 17 years old and less than 24 years old. There are 5 parts in the examination; Physics, Chemistry,Biology, General Knowledge and English of 20 marks each. There are 40 seats available in this programme with 21 being unreserved and 9 for the SC and 10 for OBCs. The qualifying marks are 50% for General candidates and 45% for the SC,ST and OBCs.
IGNOU Post Basic B.Sc Nursing Entrance Exam
The Indira Gandhi National Open University offers a post-basic B.Sc in Nursing to students. Admissions to this programme are done through the IGNOU OPENNET exam. In order to be eligible for the exam the candidate should be a registered nurse and midwife with the State Nurses Registration Council and the candidate should have a certificate or diploma of 3 years in General Nursing and Midwifery(GNM). The exam is conducted offline and is objective-type with multiple choice questions. There are a total of 120 questions and is 2 hours and 30 minutes long. The candidate is awarded +1 for each correct answer and there is no negative marking. There are 4 sections in the exam:-
- Quantitative Aptitude
- English Language
- Reasoning
- General Awareness
KGMU BSc Nursing Entrance Exam
KGMU BSc Nursing exam is conducted by King George’s Medical University Lucknow. KGMU Nursing exam is a state-level entrance exam that facilitates admission into a four year BSc nursing course offered There are a total of 380 seats across seven nursing colleges in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. The selection will be made strictly based on their performance in the written examination, followed by the personal interview.
The exam is an offline test. The question paper had three sections: physics, chemistry, and Biology. The duration of the exam is three hours. There will be 200 multiple-choice questions for 200 Marks.. All the questions are based on the syllabus of class 12. The KGMU nursing 2023 exam had no negative marking.
CMC Vellore Nursing Entrance Exam
The Christian Medical College Vellore Nursing Entrance Examination (CMC Vellore Nursing Entrance Exam) is an Institute level Nursing entrance exam. It is organized by Christian Medical College Vellore (CMC Vellore) for admission to B.Sc Nursing, AHS Degree Courses, Diploma in Nursing, AHS Diploma Courses, DCPC in CMC Vellore. CMC Vellore BSc Nursing 2023 entrance exam is the gateway to admission to the top nursing institute in India. The conducting body of Christian Medical College (CMC) offers 50 seats at Chittoor campus and 100 seats at Vellore campus for the UG-level programme. The BSc Nursing course at CMC Vellore campus is affiliated to Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University and the Chittoor campus is affiliated to Dr NTR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh.
The exam pattern is as follows
