The National Testing Agency has cancelled the entrance exam scheduled to be held on September 29, 2023 for the Prime Minister Young Achievers Scholarship Award Scheme for Vibrant India (PM YASASVI) 2023 for the selection of students for the award of Scholarships. As per the notice released by the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment on the official website, the PM YASASVI Scholarship for the current year will be granted on the basis of merit to be prepared considering the marks obtained in the class 8 and 10 as applicable

The Prime Minister Young Achievers Scholarship Award Scheme for Vibrant India (PM YASASVI) had been introduced to benefit around 30,000 students from top class schools who belong from Other Backward Classes (OBC), Economically Backward Classes (EBC), Denotified Tribes (DNT). The annual income of parents and guardians of these students should not be more than Rs. 2.5 Lakhs.

Candidates who scored 60 per cent or above in Class 8 and 10 are eligible to apply for the scholarship through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). The students will be selected through NSP Portal.

The department decided to cancel the exam in consideration for the students’ convenience considering a lack of time..

The official notice reads, “Keeping in view the paucity of time for the test, the Department has reconsidered the matter. It has been decided that instead of the Entrance Test (which will entail extra burden on the applicants), the selection for this year will now be done on the basis of the merit to be prepared considering the marks obtained in the class VIII & X, as applicable, as per scheme guidelines.”

Under the scheme, the students will be entitled to get a scholarship of up to Rs. 75,000 per annum for Class 9/10. While the students of Class 11/12 will be granted Rs. 1,25,000 per annum. The amount will cover the school tuition fee/hostel fee of the students.

Candidates are advised to visit the National Scholarship Portal (https://scholarships.gov.in) and website of the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment (https://socialjustice.gov.in) regularly for further details
