IGNOU Army Educational Project (IAEP) renewed by IGNOU and Indian Army
The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has renewed its agreement with the Indian Army for IGNOU Army Educational Project (IAEP) which provides educational facilities to army personnel through open and distance learning (ODL).
The IGNOU Army Educational Project (IAEP) is renewed after every five years. The agreement started on May 24, 1999, and has been extended periodically since then.
On the orders of the Indian Government, IAEP provides distance educational facilities to the Indian Army on both national and global level using open and distance learning (ODL). IGNOU is reaching to the defence personnel and their families on a single-window basis for academic programs where they can find every feature related to this program.
The defence personnel who have enrolled in this will not be dislocated from their respective units, except during academic counselling and term end examinations.
The statement released by IGNOU reads, “The collaborative enterprise of IGNOU with the service personnel facilitates provision of educational opportunities without dislocating the enrolled learners from their units, except for academic counseling and term-end examinations.”
IGNOU has established Recognized Regional Centres (RRC) at 6 army headquarters in Kolkata, Chandimandir, Lucknow, Udhampur, Pune and Jaipur. The commanding division named Regional Services Division (RSD) of IGNOU works as the nodal point to facilitate smooth functioning of these RRCs across the country
