ICSI proposal for broad-based Entrance Test – The Institute of Company Secretaries of India offers admission to Company Secretaries (CS) Course. For admission to CS course ICSI conducted foundation exam twice in a year.

 

As per the Times of India report, ICSI has put a proposal to the ministry of corporate affairs to introduce an Entrance Test instead of the foundation exam for admission to CS course. It has proposed for  an entrance test based on English, Aptitude and general Knowledge.

 

As per ICSI President Ranjeet Pandey, “This will help in increasing the quality of intake, He said the entrance test would allow for more flexibility to the candidates and also allow more aspirants to sit for it.

He also added that, this is just a proposal and the Ministry may approved it or reject it.

 

According to Mr. Pandey, every year around 1.5 lakh students take the company Secretary (CS) exam and about 65% make it through the first stage. Pandey said that the number of passing candidates could slightly reduce if the test is broad-based. It will also help in selection of better candidates.

 

The other subsequent tests will remain unchanged even if the proposal for entrance test is accepted, said by ICSI President Ranjeet Pandey.
