NTSE Full Form

The Full form of NTSE is National Talent Search Examination. NTSE is a national-level scholarship program in India conducted by National Council of Education Research and Training (NCERT) to identify and recognize students with high intellect and academic talent. National Talent Search Examination aims to provide scholarship to the deserving candidates. The examination is conducted every year at 2 levels for the award of scholarship. Stage 1 is at state level in which selection is done by States / UTs after a written examination. Those who qualify Stage 1 are eligible to appear for National level Stage 2 examination by NCERT. For both stages, the exam is divided into two parts i.e. Mental Ability Test (MAT) and Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) and the papers are conducted only through offline mode and have objective type questions only. Around 12 to 14 lakh students appear for the examination every year while only 5 thousand students are selected for stage 2. Out of these only 1 thousand candidates are selected for the scholarship. The amount for one thousand scholarship are awarded for different stages of education i.e. Rs.1250/month for Class-XI to XII, Rs.2000/month for Undergraduates and Post-graduates and for Ph.D. is fixed in accordance with the UGC norms.
