Character Sketch of Gajaraj
The royal elephant Gajaraj is the king’s favourite. He has a mahout who trains him and takes his care. However, Gajaraj remains sad and longs for a friend. He is caring and feeds the hungry dog. He is playful and splashes water on the dog. He is affectionate as he makes the dog sit on its back and gives it a ride. Gajaraj is saddened on being separated from Buntee and does not eat food till they unite again.
Character Sketch of Mahout
The mahout trains and takes care of the royal elephant Gajaraj. He is sensitive and can make out that Gajaraj is enjoying the dog’s company. He allows the dog to remain in the royal stable because his presence has made Gajaraj happy. He is a responsible man and so, does not interrupt the farmer from taking his pet dog. He understands Gajaraj’s affection towards Buntee and is happy when they are united.
Character Sketch of Buntee
Buntee is a dog who strays into the royal stable. It gets lost and finds shelter in Gajaraj’s stable. It dislikes getting wet but enjoys the ride on Gajaraj’s back. It becomes friends with the royal elephant. It gets happy to see its master but misses its friend Gajaraj. Buntee also refuses to eat food till he is united with his friend Gajaraj.
Character Sketch of Farmer
The farmer loves its pet dog Buntee. He informs the mahout that he had been searching for it ever since it went missing. He ties a rope around Buntee’s neck and takes him home. He overlooks the pangs of separation faced by Buntee and Gajaraj. However, later when he sees that Buntee is sad and refusing food, he allows Buntee to go to its friend Gajaraj and is happy to see them united.
