The online applications for GATE-2018 commence from 01st September 2017 and close on 05th October 2017. The BPCL MT 2017 Online registrations close on 05th January 2018 and close on 02nd February 2018

BPCL is looking for young, energetic and ambitious Graduate Engineers in the discipline of ‘Mechanical Engineering’ for the post of ‘Management Trainee’. Mechanical Engineers desirous of pursuing a career with BPCL are required to appear for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) -2018

The eligibility criteria with respect to prescribed educational qualifications, percentage of marks, age etc. and the procedure for application are mentioned below:

Age Limit (as on 01st June 2018)

a) General Candidates – Maximum 25 years (born on or after 02nd June 1993)

b) OBC (Non Creamy layer) – Maximum 28 years (Born on or after 02nd June 1990)

c) SC/ST – Maximum 30 years (Born on or after 02nd June 1988)

d) PWDs (Persons with disability) with degree of disability 40% or above – Age relaxation of up to 10 years (Born on or after 02nd June 1983)

e) Candidates domiciled in Jammu & Kashmir between 01st January 1980 and 31st December 1989 – Age relaxation of up to 5 years

f) Ex-servicemen & Commissioned Officers (including ECOs & SSCOs, subject to rendering minimum 5 years’ military service and fulfillment of other conditions prescribed by Government of India) – Age relaxation of up to 5 years



(1) Full time, B.E. / B. Tech/ B.Sc. (Engineering) through AICTE/UGC approved Indian Universities / Institutes

(2) Candidates should have passed the degree in first attempt

(3) Candidates with Integrated Courses or courses with 5 year or more course duration would not be eligible to apply for the position

(4) The courses offered by Autonomous Institutions should be equivalent to the relevant courses approved / recognized by Association of Indian    Universities (AIU)/UGC/AICTE

(5) Candidates in the final year of their engineering studies may also apply

(6) Candidates in the final year of their engineering studies may also apply

(7) Candidates belonging to General and OBC (Non- Creamy Layer/NCL) categories should have secured minimum 60% marks in the qualifying degree examination

(8) The applicable minimum percentage of marks for Scheduled Caste (SC) / Scheduled Tribe (ST) /Persons With Disability (PWD) candidates is 50%

(9) Candidates in the final year of engineering belonging to General and OBC (NCL) categories should have secured minimum 60% marks (in aggregate upto last semester), relaxable to 50% for SC/ST/ PWD candidates


Selection Process

(1) Gate Scores: Shortlisting based on GATE-2018 Scores in Mechanical Discipline

(2) Further Shortlisting: Group Discussions (GD) / Alternate selection methodology and Personal Interviews

(3) Final Selection: Based on Medical Fitness in Pre-Employment Medical Examination

Candidates selected as “Management Trainee” would be normally placed in Job Group “A”, with a basic salary of Rs.24900/- (Scale of Pay Rs.24900 – Rs. 50500)
In addition, Dearness Allowance (DA) based on IDA pattern is payable. House Rent Assistance, if applicable will vary based on the class of city of posting

The total emoluments at entry level in Job Group ‘A’ are presently Rs. 14.1 Lakhs per annum (approx. cost to company). This includes 50% of Basic Pay as Perks & Allowances, Performance Related Pay & 30% of Basic plus DA as superannuation benefits (Provident Fund, Gratuity & New Pension Scheme)

Application process for GATE-2018 is entirely online. After downloading the GATE-2018 admit card and receipt of GATE registration number, candidates need to apply online on BPCL’s website https://bharatpetroleum.com

Candidates will require their GATE-2018 Registration Number for applying to BPCL. The registration number will appear on the GATE-2018 admit card which can only be downloaded from the zonal GATE websites of IISc and IITs. No other number (for e.g. GATE-2018 Application / online form no. etc) should be entered while applying to BPCL
