Character Sketch of Ila Sachani
Ila Sachani was born in Moti Vavdi village in Bhavnagar. Unlike other children, her hands were hanging loose by her side. Although she was disappointed as she couldn’t do things like other children, her grandmother and mother were determined to help her out. They taught her their Kathiawar embroidery, which requires significant skill, making it all the more difficult for her to do with her legs. Still, she didn’t give up, and with determination, she practised it until she became perfect at it. She started to make bed covers, pillows and many other things for friends and family, who appreciated her work around the village. Soon, her work was displayed at the state and national level, helping her win many awards. She turned her limitations into opportunities through her willpower, helping her to earn respect over sympathy in the eyes of others.
