Important Dates

  • Last Date for Submission of Online Application: 15th December 2023
  • Last Date for Submission of Hard Copy: 18 Dec 2023
  • Date of Common Entrance Test: To be announced

Eligibility Criteria 

  • Candidates should have Passed Master Degree with a minimum 55% of marks or an equivalent grade.
  • For the candidates belonging to SC/ST community and those who have qualified for the Master’s degree before 19th September 1991 the minimum eligibility marks shall be 50% in their Master’s degree.

PhD Category

  • Candidates can register under the following categories for the PhD program:
  1. a) Full Time (with or without stipend or fellowship)
  2. b) Part Time (teacher or non-teacher; internal vis-à-vis external)
  3. c) Research Fellows/Research Assistants/Technical Assistants/ Project Assistants/Training Officers in Extension Departments approved by the University, appointed in the Research Projects funded by recognized Agencies/ Government are also eligible to register for Ph.D. on a full time basis in the same department provided they satisfy the eligibility criteria laid down.

d)Independent Research without Supervisor

Application Process

  • Interested Candidates can apply online only through  the University Website www.periyaruniversity.ac.in. and the necessary fee must be paid through online only.

Step to Apply

  • Step 1 : Login www.periyaruniversity.ac.in. 
  • Step 2 : Click Admission menu and then click Research submenu
  • Step 3 : Click online portal
  • Step 4 : Click PhD Entrance Box

Application Fee

  • General – 1,000/-
  • SC/ST (The community certificate should be uploaded) – 500/-
  • Differently-Abled (The differently-abled certificate should be uploaded) – 500/-
  • Mode of Payment :- Online through Debit card/Credit card/Net Banking.

Selection  Procedure

  • A Common Entrance Test will be conducted for all the PhD applicants (FT & PT candidates) aspiring to join the University Departments and approved affiliated colleges/ institutions.
  • No PhD Programme offered through the distance education mode. The candidates who qualify UGC-NET / UGC-CSIR (NET) / SET / GATE / DST Inspire qualified are exempted from appearing in the written test but shall attend the interview conducted by the Department Research Committee.
