CSIR NET December 2023: National Testing Agency on behalf of The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) invites online applications for Joint CSIR-UGC NET December 2023. The National Testing Agency will be conducting the examination from December 26 to 28, 2023 to determine the eligibility of Indian nationals for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and for Lectureship (LS) /Assistant Professor in Indian universities and colleges.
CSIR-NET is conducted twice a year in June and December. CSIR NET is conducted in certain subject areas falling under the faculty of Science & Technology (Chemical Sciences, Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean and Planetary Sciences, Life Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, Physical Sciences). Candidates who will qualify in CSIR NET will get a fellowship of INR 31,000 per month for a period of 2 years as JRF and followed by INR 35,000 per month fellowship for a period of 3 additional years. They will also get an opportunity to work in top Research Laboratories as Junior research fellow, Senior research fellow, Project Associate, Research Associate, Project fellow, and Senior Project fellow.

To appear in the CSIR NET 2023 December exam, candidates should be well aware of the important dates.
- Starting Date to Apply Online & Payment Fee: 01st November 2023
- Last Date to Apply Online: 30th November 2023 up to 05:00 PM
- Last Date for Payment of Fee: 30th November 2023 up to 11:50 PM
- Correction in the Particulars of Application Form online only: 02nd to 04th December 2023

Eligibility Criteria
The basic eligibility criteria candidates must fulfill to appear for CSIR NET 2023 are
- M.Sc. or equivalent degree/ Integrated BS-MS/ BS-4 years/ BE/ B. Tech/ B. Pharma/ MBBS with at least 55% (without rounding off) marks for General (UR)/General-EWS and 50% (without rounding off) for OBC (NCL)/SC/ST, Third gender and Persons with Disability (PwD) candidates.
- Candidates enrolled for M.Sc. or having completed 10+2+3 years of the above qualifying exam as on the closing date of online submission of Application Form, are also eligible to apply in the above subject under the Result Awaited (RA) category on the condition that they complete the qualifying degree with requisite percentage of marks within two years from the date of declaration of Joint CSIR-UGC NET Test result, failing which they shall be treated as disqualified
- Such candidates will have to submit the attestation form duly certified by the Head of the Department/Institute from where the candidate is appearing or has appeared (Annexure-VIII).
- B.Sc. (Hons.) or equivalent degree holders or students enrolled in Integrated MS-PhD program with at least 55%^ (without rounding off) marks for General (UR)/General-EWS; 50%^ (without rounding off) marks for OBC (NCL)/SC/ST, Third gender, Persons with Disability (PwD) candidates are also eligible to apply.
- Candidates with Bachelor’s degree will be eligible for CSIR fellowship only after getting registered/enrolled for Ph.D./Integrated Ph.D. program within the validity period of two years. Candidates possessing only Bachelor’s degree are eligible to apply only for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and not for Lectureship (LS)/Assistant Professor. “(without rounding off)”
- B.E./ B.S./ B.Tech./ B.Pharma/ MBBS final year/result awaited candidates are eligible to apply for fellowship only. These candidates will not be eligible for Lectureship/Assistant professor.
- B.Sc. (Hons.) final year/Result awaited candidates are not eligible to apply. Specification of degrees (whether Bachelor’s or Master’s) as notified by UGC in its Gazette Notification No. F. 5-1/2013 (CPP-II) dated 5th July, 2014 and as amended from time to time, shall apply.
- The eligibility for Lectureship/Assistant Professor of NET qualified candidates will be subject to fulfilling the criteria laid down by UGC. Ph.D. degree holders who have passed Master’s degree prior to 19th September 1991, with at least 50%^ marks are eligible to apply for Lectureship/Assistant Professor only (without rounding off)
Upper Age Limit
- JRF: Maximum 28 years as on 01/07/2023 {upper age limit may be relaxable up to 5 years in case of SC/ST/Third gender/Persons with Disability (PwD) / female applicants and 03 years in case of OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) applicants}.
- Lectureship (LS)/ Assistant Professor: No upper age limit
Application Process
CSIR NET 2023 December application process has begun. Candidates can follow the steps mentioned below to register for CSIR NET 2023 December exam
- Candidates can apply for Joint CSIR-UGC NET Dec 2023 through the “Online” mode. Submission of Online Application Form may be done by accessing the NTA website https://csirnet.nta.nic.in/
- Application Form in any other mode will not be accepted. Only one application is to be submitted by a candidate.
- Candidates must follow the instructions strictly as given in the Information Bulletin and on the NTA website. Candidates not complying with the instructions shall be summarily disqualified.
- Candidates must ensure that the Email Address and Mobile Number provided in the Online Application Form are their own as all information/ communication will be sent by NTA through e-mail on the registered e-mail address or SMS on registered Mobile Number only

CSIR NET 2023 Admit Card
- Admit Card will be issued provisionally to the candidates, subject to their satisfying the eligibility conditions. The candidate has to download the Admit Card from the NTA website and appear for the Examination at the given Centre on Date, timing and Exam as indicated in their Admit Card.
- No candidate will be allowed to appear at the Exam Centre, on Date and timing other than that allotted to them in their Admit Card
- In case candidates are unable to download Admit Cards from the website, they may approach the Help Line between 09:30 am and 5:30 pm or write to NTA at [email protected].
- Candidates are advised to read the instructions on the Admit Card carefully and follow them during the conduct of the Exam
