IISER Tirupati PhD Admission 2024 – Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Tirupati has released a notification for admission to PhD in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and Earth and Climate Sciences and associated interdisciplinary areas of research for the academic January 2024 Session. In addition to research, the program involves coursework and teaching assistantships. IISER Tirupati is the sixth Institute in the chain of IISERs established by the Govt. of India under the Ministry of Education for imparting quality education in basic sciences and for setting up state-of-the-art research facilities for frontline and cutting-edge research in science. Eligibility Criteria

For Biology

Minimum Eligibility Criteria

  • Students with minimum 55% marks in aggregate (overall percentage including all subjects) or CGPA 6.0 on a 10-point scale in Master’s degree in any branch of Science Physics/ Chemistry/ Mathematics/Biological Sciences/ Ecological Sciences/Agricultural Sciences/ Psychology M.Tech/ M.VSc or MBBS degree or any equivalent degree.
  • Candidates with BE/B.Tech degree with minimum 60% marks in aggregate (overall percentage including all subjects) or CGPA 6.5 on a 10-point scale can also apply.
  • IISER BS-MS (All IISERs) Dual degree students with CGPA >= 8.0 are eligible without the essential eligibility criteria listed on the right column.

Essential Eligibility Criteria

  • Qualified for JGEEBILS 2022 (or)
  • DBT-JRF-A / ICMR-JRF / DBT-BINC / ARS-NET (ICAR)/ UGC-CSIR JRF/ DST-INSPIRE-JRF (or)
  • For NET-LS up to rank 200 are eligible (or)
  • For GATE -Life Sciences, GATE-Biotechnology, GATE-Computer Science and IT, GATE-Chemistry up to rank 200, GATE-Ecology and Evolution up to rank 300 are eligible (or)
  • Any other national fellowship

For Chemistry

Minimum Eligibility Criteria

  • Students with minimum 55% marks in aggregate (overall percentage; with all subjects) or CGPA 6.0 on a 10-point scale in master’s degree in any branch of Science: Physics/Chemistry/ Mathematics/Biology or ME/M.Tech or any equivalent degree.
  • Candidates with BE/B.Tech degree with minimum 60% marks in aggregate (overall percentage; not only in majoring subject) or CGPA 6.5 on a 10-point scale can also apply.
  • IISER BS-MS (All IISERs) Dual degree students with CGPA >= 8.0 are eligible without the essential eligibility criteria listed on the right column.

Essential Eligibility Criteria

  • Qualified for CSIR/UGC-LS/JRF/INSPIRE PhD Fellowships/GATE/Any other National Fellowships

For Mathematics

Minimum Eligibility Criteria

  • Students with minimum 55% marks in aggregate (overall percentage including all subjects) or CGPA 6.0 on a 10-point scale in Master’s degree in any branch of Science Physics/ Chemistry/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Biological Sciences/ M.Tech/ M.E or any equivalent degree.
  • Candidates with B.E./ B.Tech degree with minimum 60% marks in aggregate (overall percentage including all subjects) or CGPA 6.5 on a 10-point scale can also apply.
  • IISER BS-MS (All IISERs) Dual degree students with CGPA >= 8.0 are eligible without the additional eligibility criteria listed on the right column.

For Physics

  • Students with minimum 55% marks in aggregate (overall percentage; not only in majoring subject) or CGPA 6.0 on a 10-point scale in Master’s degree in any branch of Science: Physics/Astronomy & Astrophysics/Chemistry/Mathematics/Biology or M.E./M.Tech. or any equivalent degree.
  • Candidates with BE/B.Tech degree with minimum 60% marks in aggregate (overall percentage; not only in majoring subject) or CGPA 6.5 on a 10-point scale can also apply.
  • IISER BS-MS (All IISERs) Dual degree students with CGPA >= 8.0 are eligible without the essential eligibility criteria listed on the right column.

  • Awarded CSIR-JRF or UGC-JRF or INSPIRE PhD (or)
  • Qualified NET-LS up to rank 300 are eligible (or)

  • The candidates must carefully fill and submit the online application form.
  • Only short-listed candidates will be intimated further about the date of interview. Candidates belonging to reserved category will have to submit relevant certificates, if selected.

 

Selection Procedure

  • The shortlisted candidates will be called for an online interview and final selection is based on interview performance.
  • Applying does not automatically guarantee that a candidate will be shortlisted for an interview. The respective departments may use additional criteria (based on academic performance and/or performance in the national level tests) to shortlist candidates for interviews.
