Character Sketch of the Giant
The Giant was a selfish and unkind character at first. He owned a beautiful garden where children loved to play but he didn’t want to share it. He built a high wall around the garden and put up a sign saying, “Trespassers will be prosecuted.” Without the children, the garden became dull and lifeless. Spring and Summer did not come. Winter stayed all the time. Frost, snow, and the North wind took over, making the garden cold and gloomy. One day, the children sneaked back into the garden. The giant saw them and felt happy, but one little boy caught his attention. He noticed that the small boy was crying because he could not climb a tree. The giant’s heart changed. He helped the boy into the tree and the garden bloomed again.
The giant changed completely. He broke down the wall and let the children play freely. He became kind and loving, especially toward the little boy. Years passed, and the giant grew old. One day, he saw the boy again. The boy had marks on his hands and feet. He called them the “wounds of Love.”The boy took him to paradise as a reward for his kindness. The giant’s journey from selfishness to kindness made him truly happy.
