Kerala TET 2023 – Pareeksha Bhavan Kerala has released the notification for Kerala Teacher Eligibility Test (K-TET) August 2023 to select the candidates for Category I (Lower Primary Classes) Category II (Upper Primary Classes) Category III (High School Classes) and Category IV (for Language Teachers – Arabic, Hindi, Sanskrit, Urdu (up to UP classes), Specialist Teachers (Art & Crafts) and Physical Education Teachers in various schools across the state.

Kerala TET 2023 Details

  • Category I – Teachers for Lower Primary Classes
  • Category II – Teachers for Upper Primary Classes
  • Category III – Teachers for High School Classes
  • Category IV – Language Teachers, Specialist Teachers and Physical Education Teachers

 

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

  • Candidates applying for Kerala TET should possess following educational qualifications

For Paper/ Category 1 – Lower Primary Classes (Class 1-5)

  • 12th/ 10+2 (or its equivalent) with a minimum of 45% marks
  • Higher Secondary/ Senior Secondary (or it’s equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).
  • 12th/ 10+2 (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks along with qualifying 2-year diploma in elementary education
  • 12th/ 10+2 (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and a degree in 4 years Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.)

For Paper/ Category II – Upper Primary Classes (Class 6-8)

  • BA/ B.Sc./ B.Com. Graduation degree and 2-year diploma Elementary Education/ Trained Teachers’ Certificate (TTC)
  • Qualified 12th or Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks along with appearing and qualifying four year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed)
  • Qualified graduation in B.A/ B.Sc/ B.Com with a minimum of 45% marks and possess one year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed.)
  • Higher Secondary/ Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and four-year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A. Ed or B.Sc.Ed.

Paper/ Category III – High School Classes (Class 9-12)

  • Graduation with BA/ BSc/ B.Com degree securing at least 45% marks along with a B.Ed.
  • Degree in the subject concerned with MSc.Ed. Degree.

Paper/ Category IV – High School Classes (Class 9-12)

  • Candidates, possessing a Certificate/ Diploma/ Degree in teaching in any subject, and are approved by Universities/ NCTE/ Board of Examinations/ Government of Kerala, are eligible to apply.
  • Those candidates who have acquired qualifications for the posts of Language Teachers of Arabic, Hindi, Sanskrit & Urdu (up to Upper Primary level), Specialist teachers & Physical Education teachers as mentioned in Chapter XXXI of Kerala Education Act and Rules can apply for Kerala TET 2023 Paper IV.

Age Limit

  • The age of the candidate must not be less than 21 years of age. At the time of appointment in Govt./Prov. Schools’ upper and lower age limit will be applicable as per the Govt. rules/act prevailing at that time.

 

Application Process

  • The Prospectus, Notification, facility for online submission of application will be available at the websites of Pareeksha Bhavan www.keralapareekshabhavan.in and www.bpekerala.in

Steps to Apply for KTET 2023

  • The first step of the Kerala Teacher Eligibility Test application process is Fee payment
  • Candidates have to pay the application fee through Debit card/ Credit Card/ net banking or challan.
  • Open the official website and enter the Transaction ID or SB collect reference number, mobile number, Date of Birth and other details in the login page
  • Fill in the academic and personal information
  • Upload the scanned signature and photograph
  • After completion of the upload process, you have to Save the page
  • Check the information fill by you and if all the details are correct, press Final Submit button
  • Candidates February take a print out of the application submission page and challan for future reference.
  • Send these documents along with certificate copies to the Kerala Pareeksha Bhavan.

 

Application Fee

  • Candidates are required to pay the Exam Fee as per their category. The application fee can be paid via online mode through Net Banking/Debit Card/Credit Card etc.
  • General/OBC/OEC Candidates – Rs.500/-
  • SC/ST/PWD Candidates – Rs.250/-

 

Kerala TET Exam Pattern

  • Mode of Exam: Offline (Pen-Paper based)
  • Language & Medium of Questions: Category I, II, and IV – Malayalam & English; Category III – English
  • Category IV- Different for different languages
  • Type of Questions: Multiple Choice Questions
  • Duration: 02 Hours 30 Minutes
  • No. of Questions: 150 per category
  • Marking Scheme: +1 for correct answer
  • Qualifying Marks: 60% mandatory

Category-1 (for Lower Primary Classes)

  • Child Development & Pedagogy (relevant to age group 6-11) – 30 Questions and 30 Marks
  • Mathematics – 30 Questions and 30 Marks
  • Environmental Studies – 30 Questions and 30 Marks
  • Language-I (Malayalam/Tamil/Kannada) – 30 Questions and 30 Marks
  • Language-II (English/ Arabic) – 30 Questions and 30 Marks
  • Total Marks – 100 Questions and 100 Marks

Category-2 (for Upper Primary Classes)

  • Child Development and Pedagogy relevant to age group 11-14) – 30 Questions and 30 Marks
  • For Mathematics and Science teachers: Mathematics and Science or (b) For Social Science Teachers: Social Science or (c) For any other teachers (a) or (b) – 60 Questions and 60 Marks
  • Language-I – Malayalam/ Tamil/Kannada/English – 30 Questions and 30 Marks
  • Language II-(Other than Language I) Malayalam/English – 30 Questions and 30 Marks
  • Total Marks – 150 Questions and 150 Marks

Category – 3 (for High School classes)

  • Adolescent Psychology, Theories of Learning and Teaching Aptitude – 40 Questions and 40 Marks
  • Language: Malayalam/English/Tamil/Kannada – 30 Questions and 30 Marks
  • Subject-specific areas (Content & Pedagogy) – 80 Questions and 80 Marks
  • Total Marks – 150 Questions and 150 Marks

Category – 4 (Language teachers)

  • Child Development, Pedagogy & Teacher Aptitude – 30 Questions and 30 Marks
  • Language Malayalam/English/Tamil/Kannada – 40 Questions and 40 Marks
  • Subjects specific paper (Content & Pedagogy) – 80 Questions and 80 Marks
  • Total Marks – 150 Questions and 150 Marks
