Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates who have secured at least 55% of aggregate marks [50% for SC/ST/CAT 1 candidates) or equivalent grade under grading system, in their Master’s Degree or equivalent examination from the recognized Universities/institutions
Application Process
- Online application along with prescribed fee and requisite documents shall be submitted on or before 24.03.2024. The details are provided at www.tumkuruniversity.ac.in
- The candidates shall submit hardcopy of the application to the Chairman/ Co-ordinator of the concerned departments along with mandatory enclosures on or before 30.03.2024
- The application fee of Rs.1650/- for GM and OBC candidates and Rs.825/-, for SC/ST/CAT-l candidates with income limit of 2.5lakhs shall be paid Online ISBI Collect) to “The Finance Officer, Tumkur University, Tumakuru”, and a copy of the same shall be enclosed along with the application.
- Candidates who have qualified in respective Master’s degrees have to appear for the Entrance Test and those candidates who have qualified for UGC-NET/KSET/ CSIR- IRF /GATE Examinations are exempted from the Entrance Test
- However, all such candidates have to appear for an interview along with the candidates who have qualified through the Entrance Test. Admissions shall be made as per the PhD regulations governing the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy- 20L7 and its 1″t Amendment.

Selection Process
- Full time Research scholars are preferred. Each department shall be admitted with at least 50% full time research scholars.
- Candidates who have qualified in respective Master’s degrees have to appear for the Entrance Test and those candidates who have qualified for UGC-NET/KSET/ CSIR- IRF /GATE Examinations are exempted from the Entrance Test
- However, all such candidates have to appear for an interview along with the candidates who have qualified through the Entrance Test. Admissions shall be made as per the Ph,D. regulations governing the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy- 2017 and its 1st Amendment.
PhD Entrance Test Details
- The Entrance Test will consist of one paper for 100 marks, including multiple-choice questions. This comprises 40 marks on Research Methodology and 60 marks on the concerned subject. The Test duration will be 3 hours.
- A candidate must secure a minimum of 50 marks out of 100 (45 marks out of 100 for SC/ST/CaI-1 candidates) in the Entrance Test to be eligible for admission to the Ph.D. program.
- The performance in the interview will carry a 30% weightage, and the entrance test marks will carry a 70% weightage for qualified candidates.
- For candidates holding UGC-CSIR/DBT/ICAR/JRF/SRF/GATE/KSET qualifications, the merit list will be based on 50% of marks secured in the interview and 50% marks in the Master’s Degree Examination. In case of equal percentages in both, candidates with a higher percentage in the Bachelor’s Degree Examination will be ranked higher.
- Candidates eligible for exemption from the Entrance Test will receive separate information about the interview date, time, and venue. This information will also be posted on the University website.
- Successful completion of the Entrance Test and participation in the interview imply eligibility for admission to the Ph.D. program at the University but do not guarantee the Ph.D. degree.
- There are no separate reservations for UGC-CSIR/DBT/ICAR/JRF/SRF/GATE/KSET and Entrance Test qualified candidates.
