Eligibility Criteria for Raiganj University PhD Admission 2020
  • Candidates who have completed/ waiting for the Final Semester result for M.Phil. from this university with at least 55% marks in aggregate, or an equivalent grade on the point scale of the grading system followed by the university, shall be eligible to proceed to do research work leading to Ph. D. Degree.
  • A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for those belonging to the SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer) / differently abled and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the University Grants Commission or other statutory bodies from time to time.
  • A person whose M.Phil. dissertation has been evaluated and the viva voce is pending under any Department / Centre or Research Programme of the university, may be provisionally admitted to the Ph.D. programme of the university but the admission will be confirmed if the candidate qualified in the M.Phil. degree with the requisite percentage of marks / grade.
  • Candidates possessing a degree considered equivalent to the M.Phil. degree of other Indian Institutions, from a Foreign Educational Institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country for the purpose of assessing, accrediting or assuring quality and standards of educational institutions, shall be eligible for admission to the Ph.D. programme.
  • Candidates from abroad are welcome to Raiganj University. They may join the Ph.D. programme. Before joining the programme the candidates must comply the norm to pass under the 10+ 2+ 3+ 2 system and the degrees must be recognised by the UGC to get admission.
  • The candidate is not currently admitted as a student in any full-time course of studies or registered for doing Ph.D. in any other university  Candidates having Master Degree in related discipline may apply.
  • The candidates who have qualified in NET/ SET/ GATE/ MPhil shall be exempted from the Entrance Test.

  • The candidates desirous to seek admission are required to apply online. Only those applicants, who apply online before the last date and satisfy the eligibility criteria, will be considered for admission
  • A candidate requires to make an online payment of a requisite fee for admission to Ph.D. Programme through online at the admission portal of Raiganj University

Selection Process
  • All the candidates shall be admitted through an Entrance Test followed by an interview. The entrance test shall consist of 50% of research methodology and 50% shall be subject specific.
  • The candidates who have qualified in NET/ SET/ GATE/ MPhil shall be exempted from the Entrance Test.
