Eligibility Criteria for IIT Jodhpur PhD Admission 2024
PhD Program (Regular)
- (i) Candidates who want to be admitted in this category shall not be a registered student in any other academic program in India or abroad, and shall not be a part-time or full-time employee of any organization in India or abroad.
- (ii) The Candidate must have a master’s degree in science, engineering, pharmacy, agricultural science, humanities, social sciences, management with at least 60% marks or at least 6.0/10 CGPA or CPI for GEN/GEN-EWS/OBC and 55% for SC/ST/PD, OR
- MBBS with MD/MS, BPTh with MPTh, BOTh with MOTh BVSc with MVSc, BDS with MDS, or equivalent with at least 60% marks or at least 6.0/10 CGPA or CPI for GEN/GEN-EWS/OBC and 55% for SC/ST/PD in bachelor’s degree, OR
- A bachelor’s degree of minimum four-year duration in science or engineering or pharmacy or medicine or veterinary science or agricultural science or equivalent with at least 70% marks or at least 7.0/10 CGPA or CPI for GEN/GEN-EWS/OBC and 65% for SC/ST/PD.
PhD Program (Sponsored/External/Part-time)
- Candidates who want to be admitted in this category shall not be a registered student in any other academic program in India or abroad.
- The Candidate must have a master’s degree in science, engineering, pharmacy, agricultural science, humanities, social sciences, management with at least 60% marks or at least 6.0/10 CGPA or CPI for GEN/GEN-EWS/OBC and 55% for SC/ST/PD, OR
- MBBS with MD/MS, BPTh with MPTh, BOTh with MOTh BVSc with MVSc, BDS with MDS, or equivalent with at least 60% marks or at least 6.0/10 CGPA or CPI for GEN/GEN-EWS/OBC and 55% for SC/ST/PD in bachelor’s degree, OR
- A bachelor’s degree of minimum four-year duration in science or engineering or pharmacy or medicine or veterinary science or agricultural science or equivalent with at least 70% marks or at least 7.0/10 CGPA or CPI for GEN/GEN-EWS/OBC and 65% for SC/ST/PD.
- The Candidate must have a minimum of two years of work experience in industry/R&D laboratories/Academic Institutions (after qualifying degree) at the time of registration to the program.
- The Candidate must qualify the written test and/or interview conducted by IIT Jodhpur.
PhD Program (Indian Nationals Residing Abroad (INRA) & Foreign Nationals)
- The applications of INRA and foreign nationals may be processed by the departments as and when they are received or according to any schedule convenient to the department. The applications should be scrutinized to make sure that, both in terms of qualifications and attainment they are comparable with the candidates admitted in the general category. Department will conduct a VC based interview for ascertaining suitability of the candidate. The candidates under these categories will be admitted as Self-Financing Student (Full program), if selected for admissions.
- The applications of foreign nationals, who are sponsored by the Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR), Study in India program or any other GOI programs are required to apply through proper channels as specified on their official websites.
Application Process
- Eligible candidates can apply online through official website http://iitj.ac.in/
- Applicants should use the online application form (https://oa.iitj.ac.in/OA_PG_ADMISSION), which will be activated during the time of admissions.
- Applicants shortlisted for the written test and/or interview will be required to bring the final submitted application form duly signed along with a copy of valid GATE score card at the time of written examination and/or interview.
Application Fee
- For General and OBC applicants – Rs. 300/-
- For SC, ST, and PD applicants – Rs. 150/-
Admission Procedure
- The Academic Committee will shortlist the applicants with a proven academic record based on a cut-off of the GATE, CSIR or UGC score card or equivalent.
- The shortlisted applicants will be called for the Written Examination and/or Interview.
Financial Assistance
- Candidates admitted to Ph.D. Program (Regular) will be eligible for financial assistance as per the norms of IIT Jodhpur.
- A candidate having B.Tech./B.S. (four-year program)/Master’s degree with GATE/NET(JRF)/NBHM (or equivalent) can have financial assistance as per MHRD norms/or equivalent applicable for non-science Departments.
- The requirement of GATE is exempted for an applicant with M.Tech or equivalent post-bachelor’s degree.
