Eligibility Criteria
- A master’s degree post bachelor’s degree obtained in 10+2+3 pattern with at least 55% marks in the bachelor’s level and 60% in the master’s level; or
- A 5-year integrated master’s degree obtained after completing higher secondary schooling in 10+2 pattern, with at least 55% marks in the bachelor’s level (if explicitly provided) and 60% in the master’s level, or
- A master’s degree post 4 year/8 semesters bachelor’s degree in 10+2+4 pattern, with a CGPA of 6.5 or above or equivalent marks, or
- A professional qualification like CA, ICWA, CS, with at least 55% marks in B.Com degree
- In case of grades / CGPA, the conversion to percentage of marks would be based on the procedure certified by the respective University/ Institution.
Qualifying Examination
- Qualified Common Admission Test (CAT) held by IIMs in last 2 years form the date of application, or
- Qualified GATE, GRE, GMAT, and JRF (UGC/CSIR) examination and have a valid score
- Candidates who have already obtained a two-year PGDM from any of the IIMs with a CPGA equivalent to 60% or more are exempted from the above requirement and can apply directly through the prescribed Application Form.
Age Limit
- Applicants must not be more than 30 years of age as on June 1, year of application.
- SC, ST, OBC, PwD, Transgender and Women candidates are given an age relaxation of up to 5 years.
Application Process
- Candidates, who use their scores of other examinations such as GATE, GRE, GMAT, and JRF of UGC/CSIR are required to fill the IIM Shillong PhD Application Form by clicking on the link provided in website (https://www.iimshillong.ac.in/doctoral-program/admission-process)
- The application form should be filled up and submitted online.
- The candidates are requested to be careful while filling in the form and to check the same before submitting it. In case any candidate submits the form more than once, the first such submission will only be considered.
- The Application fee for General category is Rs 1000/- to be paid online (Non Refundable)
- Application fee for SC/ST/PwD candidates are waived off.
- Please read the instructions in this page as well as in the application form carefully before filling in the form.
Selection Procedure
- Candidates who fulfill the eligibility criteria stated above and who cleared the Common Admission Test (CAT) held by the IIMs in the last 2 years from the date of application.
- Alternatively, those who have valid GATE, GRE, GMAT and JRF (UGC/CSIR) examinations till February of the year of application (or as per notification) can also apply in the relevant area of specialization.
- Candidates who have already obtained a two-year PGDM from any of the IIMs with a CPGA equivalent to 60% & above are exempted from this requirement and can apply directly through the prescribed Application Form.
- Short-listed candidates (on the basis of their academic record and performance in the competitive examinations mentioned above) will be called for a personal interview for final selection. The successful candidates will receive offers to join the course.
- Admission to the program is open to overseas candidates including NRIs and foreign nationals. Their admission will be based on GMAT/GRE scores.
