Bennett University PhD Admission 2020 – Bennett University, PhD programs are being offered by the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS) in the specializations of Biotechnology, Computer Science Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.

Bennett University PhD Admission 2020 Important Dates

  • Last Date of Receipt of Applications: 22nd November 2019
  • Written entrance tests (BRAT) (for eligible candidates only): 02nd December 2019
  • Interview (Engineering/Sciences): 02nd December 2019
  • Presentation of research proposal/Interview (Law): 02 December 2019

Eligibility Criteria for Bennett University PhD Admission 2020

For Engineering/Science Programs

  • Academic Requirements (Minimum Qualifications): 60% Marks or a minimum CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale in relevant program in M.E./M.Tech./M.Sc./M.Phil. (Candidates with MCA degree are not eligible for the PhD program in Engineering and Sciences of the University)

For Law Programs

  • To be eligible for applying for admission to Ph.D. Degree, the applicant should have:
  • Obtained a master’s degree in Law/any other discipline from a recognized University with not less than 55% marks or its equivalent; provided that candidates with qualifications in social sciences, humanities and sciences may be admitted to the program, if the research they wish to pursue, interfaces with the discipline of law.
  • Candidates who have appeared in the qualifying examination but awaiting results are also eligible to apply : Provided that the result of the qualifying examination shall be submitted by the candidate at the time of Registration(Tentatively in 1st week of Jan, 2020, ) failing which their candidature shall be cancelled .
  • Applicants with more than 3 years industry/ teaching/ practising/ managerial/ professional experience would be given preference.
  • Note: Candidates who have appeared previously for PhD admission procedure, and not selected, shall not be eligible to apply for a minimum of one year, since the last attempt.

Shortlisting and Selection

  • The shortlisting of applications for admission test/interview will be done by the doctoral admission committee of respective Schools , based on the profile of applicant as provided in the application form.

For Engineering and Sciences Programs

  • Bennett Research Aptitude Test (BRAT) – a written test conducted by the University.
  • The process of Interview by a nominated committee of the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences
  • During the personal interview, the applicant will be assessed on his interest and motivation in doing research, conceptual clarity on chosen area of research and his past academic and research performances.

For Law Programs

  • Bennett Research Aptitude Test (BRAT) – a written test conducted by the University.
  • Presentation of Preliminary Research Proposal and Interview: The candidates appearing in BRAT, shall be required to present their preliminary research proposal, (candidates thus, will have to submit/upload the same along with online application). The candidate shall also be interviewed to assess his/her interest and motivation in doing research, conceptual clarity on chosen area of research and his/her past academic and research performances.

Written Tests

  • The weightage for admission, in the written examination shall be 70% marks viz 30% marks in the interview.

Bennett Research Aptitude Test (BRAT-Engineering and Applied Sciences)

  • The syllabus of examination for the written test shall be the same as for UGC NET/CSIR/GATE/GRE examinations:
  • Each candidate shall take the written test in relevant area /field to the student’s discipline.
  • The test will typically be of one-hour duration. The questions in the test may be both objective as well as subjective.

Bennett Research Aptitude Test (BRAT-Law)

  • Duration – 2 hours
  • Sections – 2 (Two) each of equal weightage
  • Section A – Essay writing /Comprehension/ Analytical skills ( on Public Policy Areas).
  • Section B – Testing the Interface of law and humanities /Business Administration/ Science & Technology.
  • The University reserves the right to revise or change the pattern of admission/written test with prior notification.
  • There shall be no exemptions from Written test and Interviews

 

Bennett University PhD Admission 2020 Application Process

  • The Application form may also be downloaded from the University website www.bennett.edu.in
  • Obtain application form and brochure from the University office by cash payment of Rs.1000/-or sending a bank draft of Rs. 1000/- favoring Bennett University, payable at Greater Noida. Fill the application form and affix a recent coloured photograph at appropriate place. Post the application on the below mentioned address.
  • The students fill the application forms online:
  • Apply online using net banking/credit/debit card at application portal no paper form which can be accessed through www.bennett.edu.in
  • Candidates applying for Law programs must also upload preliminary research proposal, as explained above along with application. Applications received without same shall not be accepted
  • Cost of Form – Rs 1000/-.
  • Admission granted to student may be revoked for noncompliance/not meeting the admission criteria/ being found ineligible, even if the same is detected at a later date. All admissions will be subject to verification of facts from the original certificates/ documents of the candidates. The decision of the Admission Committee of the University regarding the eligibility of any applicant shall be final.

  • On successful completion of application form and online payment, the candidate shall be allotted a Unique Application ID number which must be saved for future reference
