NBRC Gurgaon PhD & MSc Admission 2023 – National Brain Research Centre (NBRC) invites applications for admission to PhD and M.Sc. (Neuroscience) Programs for the academic year 2023.

Important Dates

  • NBRC Application (Online) opens on 13th December, 2022
  • Last date of receipt of application (Online / Offline) for the M.Sc. programme at NBRC: 31st March 2023
  • Last date of receipt of application (Online / Offline) for Ph.D. program at NBRC: 16th May 2023
  • Last date of receipt of requests for hard copy of application form : 01st March 2023
  • Interview for the M.Sc. program : To be announced later
  • Interview for Ph.D. program: To be announced later
  • Shortlisted candidates will be notified by e-mail by April / May 2023.

 

Eligibility Criteria

For PhD (Neuroscience)

  • A candidate seeking admission to the course of study leading to the award of Doctor of Philosophy should meet the following criteria :
  • Master’s degree or equivalent in any branch of Science such as Life Sciences / Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics / Statistics / Computer applications / Pharmacy / Veterinary Science / M.Sc. Degree in Psychology from a recognized Institute / University.
  • You are also eligible if you have completed a minimum of a four-year course leading to a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering / Technology / Medicine from a recognized Institute / University.
  • Candidates appearing for the final year of the qualifying examination are also eligible to apply.
  • At least 55% (50% for SC / ST / PH candidates) marks or an equivalent grade or grade point average from secondary (10th) examination onwards is required.
  • Candidates should calculate their percentage up to two decimal points to determine their eligibility.

For M.Sc. (Neuroscience)

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in any branch of Science such as Life Sciences / Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics / Statistics / Computer applications / Pharmacy / Veterinary Science / B.Sc. Degree in Psychology / Engineering / Technology / Medicine from a recognized Institute / University.
  • Candidates appearing for the final year of the qualifying examination are also eligible to apply.
  • At least 55% (50% for SC / ST / PH candidates) marks or an equivalent grade or grade point average from secondary (10th) examination onwards is required.
  • Candidates should calculate their percentage up to two decimal points to determine their eligibility.

 

National Entrance Examinations for PhD at NBRC

Ph.D (Neuroscience)

  • Joint Graduate Entrance Examination for Biology and Interdisciplinary Life Sciences (JGEEBILS December 2022).
  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE-2022/GATE-2023) in Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics / Electrical Engineering / Electronics and Communications Engineering / Computer Science and Information Technology / Instrumentation Engineering / Life Sciences. Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST) (2023) (for Physics). CSIR / UGC / DBT / ICMR examination for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in Biology / Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics. Validity of the fellowship should be such that it can be activated on 31st August, 2023 or later. UGC-NET JRF qualified on / after Dec 2021.
  • Based on their performance in any of the above qualifying examinations, candidates will be short-listed for interviews to be held at NBRC.

M.Sc. (Neuroscience)

  • Joint Graduate Entrance Examination for Biology and Interdisciplinary Life Sciences (JGEEBILS December 2022).
  • M.Sc. programme candidates will be screened through JGEEBILS only.
  • Candidates will be short-listed for a two-tier interview based on their performance in the JGEEBILS examination.

 

Application Process

  • Eligible candidates can apply online through University website http://www.nbrc.ac.in/
  • Candidates who wish to apply by offline mode need to obtain an application form from NBRC. In order to obtain the application form, please send a self-addressed A-4 size envelope to the Registrar, National Brain Research Centre, Manesar-122052 Dist. Gurgaon (Haryana).
  • If you are eligible for both M.Sc. (Neuroscience) and Ph.D. programmes, you can choose to apply for both the programmes by filling in separate online application forms (by using different email-ids) or sending application by post / courier. You will have to pay the fee separately for each programme.

 

Step to follow

  • Step 1: Check if you fulfill minimum criteria for admission to the NBRC Ph.D. or M.Sc. (Neuroscience) programme here
  • Step 2 : Apply for JGEEBILS (December 2022)
  • Step 3: Apply here to NBRC Ph.D. program before 16th May 2023 or M.Sc. programme before 31st March 2023. You must apply to NBRC using this link. Merely applying for JGEEBILS does not automatically send your application to NBRC.
  • Step 4: Pay the required amount of fee as described here.

 

 

Application Fee

Fee for Online applicants

  • For General Candidates : Rs. 500/- + GST
  • For SC/ST/PH Candidates : Rs. 250/- + GST

Fee for Offline applicants

  • For General Candidates: Rs. 600/- + GST
  • For SC/ST/PH Candidates: Rs. 300/- + GST
  • Mode of Payment : Online through ‘SB Collect’ of State Bank of India / Offline through Demand Draft drawn in favour of Director, National Brain Research Centre payable at Gurgaon or Manesar
