TISS National Entrance Test for M.A. Admissions 2018

 

Applications are invited by Tata Institute of Social Science (TISS), Mumbai for admission to full-time (regular) Post-Graduate Degree Master of Arts (M.A.) Programs offered at Mumbai, Tuljapur, Guwahati and Hyderabad Campuses and other locations for the academic session 2018

 

TISS-NET is a yearly exam conducted for admissions to Masters in Social Work and related programs at Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) Mumbai and its campuses in Tuljiapur, Hyderabad, Guwahati and other locations

Eligibility  

Candidates having a bachelor's degree with minimum of 3 years duration or its equivalent (under the 10+2+3 or 10+2+4 or 10+2+2+1 year bridge course pattern of study or any other pattern fulfilling the mandatory requirements of 15 years formal education) from a recognized university are eligible to apply

Only those Candidates who will be able to complete all the requirements of their final year Bachelor's Degree examinations by Saturday, June 02, 2018 are eligible to apply to all programs

For MA in Applied Psychology with Specializations in Counselling Psychology and Clinical Psychology, preference will be given to those candidates who have a graduate degree/BA in Psychology; BA/B.Sc. Home Science with specialization in Child/Human Development; BA Social Work, BA General-with minimum three papers in Psychology

The results of the final examination have to be submitted before September 30, 2018. Those who fail to do so the provisional admission stands cancelled

Selection Procedure

The selection of candidates for different programs happens in two stages and has three components of assessment. All candidates must appear for the National entrance test (TISSNET)

The weightage for NET (National Entrance Test), PIT (Pre Interview Test) and PI (Personal Interview) is as follows for the preparation of final merit lists for General as well as for Reserved Category candidates. NET – 40%; PIT – 30%; PI – 30%

The merit list will be prepared on the basis of merit and the preferences indicated by the candidates at the time of filling up the online application form (Kindly Indicate your preferences carefully as it has implications for the merit list)

 

Exam Pattern for TISS - NET

National Entrance Test (TISS-NET) is computer based. It will be held on January 06, 2018 from 2 pm to 3.40 pm in 39 Cities (below mentioned) in different parts of the country
The online test is of objective type and even those with a rudimentary knowledge of working with a computer can take the test
Duration of Test: 01 hour 40 minutes
In case a candidate desires to do the test on paper, he/she must this indicate this in the application form. The objective test will have questions related to social sensitivity, knowledge on contemporary issues; analytical ability, and logical reasoning
This year General Awareness will consist of 40 marks, English Proficiency 30 marks, Maths and Logical Reasoning - 30 marks

Northern Region: Chandigarh, Dehradun, New Delhi, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Jaipur, Lucknow, Noida, Varanasi, Greater Noida, Mohali

Eastern Region: Bhubaneswar, Guwahati, Jamshedpur, Kolkata, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi, Dimapur, Silchar

Western Region: Ahmedabad, Aurangabad, Bhopal, Gwalior, Indore, Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune, Solapur, Navi-Mumbai, Thane

Southern Region: Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kochi, Visakhapatnam, Madurai, Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode

Admit Card:

Admit Card will be uploaded on TISS Website between 18 DECEMBER 2017 and 19 DECEMBER 2017, candidate can down load their admit card from the TISS website. Those candidates who have not received their admit card by December 21, 2017, can call TISS CARE: 022 - 2552 5252 OR may register their complaint by sending a mail to [email protected] Please note that candidates without an admit card won't be allowed to attend the entrance test

 

Application  

Candidates are required to apply online through the e-application only, available on the Institute’s website http://admissions.tiss.edu

Candidates from remote places where no Internet and Telecommunication facilities are available can get a printed copy of the application form from the Institute. Please send request for printed form by Speed Post with application fees to Assistant Registrar (Academic), Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Deonar Mumbai, 400088. Please note that candidates applying through the E-application form need not send the application form by post

Candidates are requested to carefully read through the eligibility criteria mentioned here before filling up the form

The application fee for each study program is Rs.1030 (if being payed by Credit card/ Debit card/ Net Banking) or Rs.1000 + bank charges (if being payed through bank by cash). Candidates are required to pay this amount for every program she/he applies for. For more details refer to the section 'Application fee payment' below. For SC/ST/OBC(NC) candidates, the application fee is Rs. 250/- per program + bank charges. Candidate has to pay this amount for every program he applies for
