DNB Post Diploma Centralized Entrance Test for January Admissions 2018


DNB PD-CET is mandatory eligibility-cum-ranking examination for entry to various Post Diploma (Secondary) DNB Courses. NATBOARD shall be conducting DNB-PD CET as a Computer Based Test (CBT) on 21st December 2017 at test centres across the country.


Diploma of National Board conducted Post Diploma Centralized Entrance Test (PDCET) for December 2017. NBE at present conducts postgraduate and postdoctoral examinations in approved specialties leading to the award of Diplomate of National Board.



The Govt. of India established the National Board of Examinations (NBE) in 1975 with the objective of improving the quality of the Medical Education by establishing high and uniform standards of postgraduate exams in modern medicine on an all India basis and utilizing existing infrastructure for capacity building

NBE at present conducts postgraduate and postdoctoral examinations in approved specialties leading to the award of Diplomate of National Board

The MCI has laid down standards for postgraduate examinations conducted by various medical colleges and affiliated to concerned universities and other institutions, yet the levels of proficiency and standards of evaluation vary considerably in these institutions

The Exams conducted by NBE provide a common standard and mechanism of evaluation of minimum level of attainment of the knowledge and competencies of medical specialists. Moreover, intra country and international comparisons are facilitated with the availability of common evaluation mechanism


Post Diploma DNB courses are offered in the following specialties:

Anesthesiology, Dermatology, Venereology and Leprosy, Nuclear Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Oto-Rhino-Laryngologist, Paediatrics, Psychiatry, Radio-Diagnosis, Radiotherapy, Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases/Pulmonary Medicine, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Pathology, Immuno Hematology and Blood Transfusion and Emergency Medicine


Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who have passed the final exam leading to the award of PostGraduate Diploma from Indian Universities which are duly recognized as per provisions of Indian Medical Council Act 1956, Govt of India i.e. have passed/Passing the final exams for Post graduate diploma on or before 30th June 2017 can apply for the Post Diploma CET Exam The same Broad specialty

Candidate should have completed his/her 2 years of post-diploma training by 31st December 2017

Submission of proof of having passed/Passing the Post graduate diploma final exam on or before the 31st December 2017 is an essential prerequisite

In case the candidate does not submit requisite proof of passing his/her post graduate diploma final examination, the candidate shall not be allowed to appear in January 2018 admission session

Candidate found to be ineligible at any stage of DNB-PDCET will not be permitted to appear in the exam. In an unlikely event of any ineligible candidate appearing and/or being successful in the DNB-PDCET, the result/candidature of such candidate shall be cancelled

Candidate who are qualifying their PG Diploma exit exams and getting their results after 31st December 2017 or likely to qualify after 31st December 2017 need not apply in the DNB-PDCET exam as they shall be ineligible to appear in the DNB-PDCET


Scheme of Exam

DNB-PDCET is an entrance exam and is an essential prerequisite for entry to post diploma DNB 2 years post graduate courses. The next session of entrance exam shall be held on 21st December 2017 and conducted as computer-based exam only

a) Appearance in the Post Diploma CET is an essential pre-requisite for entry to the DNB Broad Specialties (Secondary Seats) January 2018 admission session

b) All the candidates who appear in the above exam will be given a merit position (rank) in descending order of the marks obtained by them. The merit list shall be published specialty wise (merit list for DGO, DMRD, DMRT, DORTHO, DOMS, DLO, DA, DVD, DPM, DCH,DNM, DTCD, DPMR

The exam comprises 300 multiple choice, single correct response questions of 1 mark each in English language only as per the following indicative scheme:

1. Human Biology (Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry) - 50 No. of questions;

2. Applied Pathology, Microbiology and Pharmacology - 50 No. of questions;

3. Medicine and Allied Sciences - 50 No. of questions;

4. Surgery and Allied Sciences - 50 No. of questions;

5. Obstetrics & Gynaecology - 50 No. of questions;

6. Community Medicine including Basic Statistics & - 50 No. of questions

Candidates successful in DNB-PDCET shall participate in Centralized merit based counseling conducted by National Board of Exams for allotment of DNB seats at NBE accredited Institutions/hospitals/medical colleges in order of their specialty specific merit and candidate shall be able to opt for the NBE accredited institution/hospital/medical college of their choice as per availability at their merit

There shall be 25% negative marking for incorrect answers. No marks will be deducted for unattempted questions

Registration and scheduling for appearing in the DNB-PDCET is to be undertaken online at the website www.nbe.edu.in

Application forms CANNOT be submitted in offline /printed copy bypost. Online applications can be accessed and completed till 23:59 hrs on30th October 2017 to 27th November 2017

Completing Post Diploma Qualification means candidate should have completed the requisite two years training and his /her result of the final examination of the requisite Post Diploma qualification should have been declared by the cut off date i.e. 31st December 2017

Candidates who are not completing the training by the cut off date or their final result has not been declared by the cut off date or they have not qualified in the requisite exam need not apply
