Courses of Study

B.Ed. Programme - Army Institute of Education offers a residential full time professional Pre-Service Teacher Education Programme of the duration of two academic years leading to Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) Degree of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIU), Delhi

Seats Availability

The institute has 100 seats for the B.Ed. Course every year. Seats are allocated to the aspiring dependents of the serving/retired Army personnel from across the country on the basis of their merit in the WAT to be held on 16th April 2017 (Sunday) at 15 specified Exam Centers in the country

Eligibility Criteria

The applicants must fall into one of the following categories:

The candidate may be:

(i) Wards/wives of serving Army Personnel

(ii) Wards/wives of ex Army personnel granted/awarded regular pension, liberalized family pension, family pension or disability pension at the time of their superannuation, demise, discharge, release medical board/invalided medical board

(iii) Wards/wives of ex Army personnel who have taken discharge / release after ten years of service

Adopted/Step Children and Children of Remarried Widows:

(i) Adopted Child of Army personnel adopted at least five years prior to seeking admission

(ii) Step Children are eligible provided they are born out of wedding where at least one parent belonged to the Army

(iii) Children of Widows of Army personnel who are born as a result of second marriage with Army personnel. However, children of widows of Army personnel born out of remarriage with None-Army personnel would not be eligible for admission

Eligibility Criteria in Special Cases:

(i) Eligibility Criteria for Wards of Ex Army Medical Corps Officers/Army Dental Corps Officers presently serving with IN/IAF; Wards of only those ex Army medical officers /Army Dental officers serving with Indian Navy or Indian Air Force who have served with the Army for 10 years

Eligibility Criteria for Children of APS Personnel:

(i) Children of APS Personnel classified as Ex-Servicemen as per Govt. of India, Ministry of Defence letter No 9 (52)/88/D (Res) dated 19 Jul 89

(ii) Children of those APS Personnel who are on deputation and who have put in 10 years of service in the Army

(iii) Children of APS Personnel who are directly recruited into APS and of those who, as per their terms and conditions of service, retired from APS after completing their minimum pension able service

Eligibility Criteria for Children of MNS/TA Personnel:

(i) Children of only those members of MNS who have 10 years service as regular members of MNS or are in receipt of pension from the Army

(ii) Children of only those TA personnel who have completed 10 years of embodied service

Admission in these Institutions will be governed by the following:

(i) Priority of Admission for B.Ed. Colleges

(ii) All eligible candidates should be treated at par; there will be no priority or categorization

(iii) 5% weight age be given to war widows/dependent of war widows (Army)

Educational Qualifications:

For Graduates: (a) Candidates having passed Bachelors degree in humanities and social sciences with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate from a recognized University and having studied any one of the following subjects: (i) English, (ii) Hindi, (iii) Sanskrit, (iv) Urdu, (v) Mathematics, (vi) Civics/Political Science, (vii) Geography, (viii) History, (ix) Economics

Note:

(i) The candidates must have passed at least two subjects out of the list of the teaching subjects for graduates; these two subjects should be available as teaching subjects in the institute/college in which the candidate seeks to take admission

(ii) The candidates who has studied either Civics (Political Science) or History or Geography or Economics will be eligible to take Social Sciences as one of the teaching subject

(iii) The second teaching subject can be chosen from either the main subjects or subsidiary subjects passed by the candidate at the graduation level or 12th level

(iv) The B.Com students shall not be given Commerce/Business Studies/Accountancy/Economics as teaching subjects as these subjects are not taught at the elementary & secondary level in schools

For Post Graduates: Candidates having done Post Graduation degree with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate from a recognized University & having studied any one of the following subjects: (i) English (ii) Hindi (iii) Sanskrit (iv) Physics (v) Chemistry (vi) Mathematics (vii) Biology (viii) Botany (ix) Zoology (x) Biotechnology (xi) Life Science (xii) Chemistry (xiii) Accountancy (xiv) Business Studies (xv) History (xvi) Political Science (xvii) Economics (xviii) Geography and (xix) Psychology

Note:

(i) The candidates will be allotted one of the teachings from the subjects listed above provided the same is being offered by the institute/college where the candidate seeks to take admission

(ii) The candidates who has passed a paper either in Botany or in Zoology or in Biotechnology or in Bio-Chemistry or Life Science will be eligible to take Biology as one of the teaching subjects

iii) The second teaching subject can be chosen from either the main subjects or subsidiary subjects passed by the candidate at post- graduation level or graduation level

Age Limit

As per the GGSIP University rules the candidates applying for B.Ed course should be below 35 years of age as on 01st August 2017
The upper age limit may be relaxed up to a maximum of 5-years in exceptional cases by the competent authority in the university, if he/she is satisfied with the merit of the case
Candidates exceeding the upper age limit up to five years may provisionally apply/appear in the Combined Written Admission Test

Combined Written Admission Test (CWAT) 2017

The Combined Written Admission Test (CWAT) 2017 for admission to the B.Ed. course will be held on Sunday, 16th April 2017 from 09:30 hrs to 12:30 hrs at 15 notified exam centers in India

The candidates will be required to report at their respective exam centers at 09:00 hrs i.e. at least half an hour before the commencement of the CWAT. Candidates will be asked to fill their choice for the exam center they wish to appear for the CWAT

Nature of CWAT

CWAT will consist of 150 objective type test items to be responded by the candidates in the allocated duration of 3 hrs

The test will have the following components: a) Intelligence and Reasoning Test; b) General Awareness Test; c) English Language Competency & Comprehension Test; d) Education / Aptitude for Teaching Test

The medium of the test shall be English only

Candidates will be required to mark their responses on the Answer Sheet provided for the purpose. No negative marking will be done

Exam Centers

CWAT will be organized at the following centers at the examination venues to be notified to the candidates - Pathankot, Jalandar Cantt, Ambala, Delhi, Kota, Jodhpur, Dehradun, Lucknow, Bhopal, Pune, Secundarabad, Banglore, Kolkata, Guwahati and Danapur

How to Apply

There will be a Written Admission Test (WAT) for admission to the B.Ed Course 2017-19 of Army Institute of Education (AIE), Greater NOIDA. The application form can be downloaded from Institute website (www.aie.ac.in) and is available in all Command HQs, (AWES cell)

Candidates desirous of seeking admission to Army Institute of Education can also obtain the Prospectus from the Office of Army Institute of Education, Plot M-1, Pocket P-5, Greater Noida, Gautam Budh Nagar (UP) 201306 on payment of Rs.700/- through a crossed demand draft in favour of ARMY INSTITUTE Of EDUCATION, GREATER NOIDA, payable at Greater Noida

The prospectus can also be obtained through registered post by sending the request along with a crossed demand draft for Rs.750/- in favour of ARMY INSTITUTE OF EDUCATION, GREATER NOIDA payable at Greater NOIDA.  Money Order /Cheque /Postal Order will not be accepted

Candidates are advised to verify their eligibility for admission to the course before filling in their application form. Application forms, duly completed in all respects, along with the relevant certificates/documents required for the purpose should reach the Principal, Army Institute of Education,  Plot M-1, Pocket P-5, Sector CHI, Greater NOIDA, Gautam Budh Nagar (UP) 201 306 latest by 15th March 2017
