Teacher Recruitment Board announces Tamil Nadu Teacher Eligibility Test (TNTET) 2019

TNTET 2019 - Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB), Applications are invited only through online mode for Teacher Eligibility Test, Paper I and Paper II for the year 2019 from the eligible candidates in Tamil Nadu.

Eligibility Criteria for TNTET 2019

Minimum Qualifications to write TNTET Paper-I (for Classes I-V)

  • Higher Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (OR);
  • Higher Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known) in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations, 2002 (OR);
  • Higher Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) (OR);
  • Higher Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Education (Special Education) (OR);
  • Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known) (OR);
  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.,)

Minimum Qualifications TNTET Paper-II (for Classes VI-VIII)

  • Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known) (OR); Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of Bachelor in Education (B.Ed.) (OR);
  • Graduation with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in final year of bachelor’s in education (B.Ed.), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations (OR);
  • Higher Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) (OR);
  • Higher Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year B.A/B.Sc. Ed or B.A. Ed./B.Sc. Ed. (OR); Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of B.Ed. (Special Education) (OR);
  • Any candidate having qualified B.Ed. Program, recognized by the NCTE is eligible to appear in TET. Moreover, as per existing TET guidelines circulated vide NCTE letter dated 11.02.2011, a person who is pursuing any of the teacher education courses (recognized by the NCTE or the RCI, as the case may be) specified in the NCTE Notification

TNTET 2019 Exam Pattern

  • Teacher Eligibility Test Papers: Paper I-Classes I to V; Paper-II Classes VI to VIII
  • Paper-I will be for a person who intends to be a teacher for Classes I to V
  • Number of questions 150 MCQs and the duration of the examination 1 Hour and 30 Minutes
  • Paper-II will be for a person who intends to be a teacher for Classes VI to VIII
  • Number of questions 150 MCQs and the duration of the examination 1 Hour and 30 Minutes
  • A person who intends to teach both Classes I to V and VI to VIII will have to appear for both Papers-I and Paper-II

Structure and Content of TET

  • All questions will be multiple choice questions (MCQs), each carrying one mark, with four alternatives out of which one answer will be correct. There will be no negative marking.

Paper I-Child Development and Pedagogy (relevant to age group 6-11); 30 MCQs; 30 marks

  • Language I-Tamil/Telugu/Malayalam/Kannada/Urdu; 30 MCQs; 30 marks
  • Language II-English; 30 MCQs; 30 marks
  • Mathematics; 30 MCQs; 30 marks
  • Environmental Studies; 30 MCQs; 30 marks
  • Total 150 MCQ; 150 marks
  • Test items on Child Development and Pedagogy will focus on Educational Psychology of Teaching and Learning, relevant to the age Group 6-11 years
  • Test Items for Language-I will focus on the proficiencies related to the Medium of Instruction
  • The candidate has to choose any one of the languages. Test Items for Language II-English will focus on the elements of language, communication and comprehension abilities. The test items in Mathematics and Environmental Studies will focus on the concepts, problem solving abilities and pedagogical understanding of these subjects.
  • The questions in the test Paper-I will be based on the topics of the prescribed Syllabus of the State for Classes I-V but their difficulty standard as well as linkages will be upto the Secondary Stage

Paper II-Child Development and Pedagogy (relevant to the age group 11-14 years) (compulsory); 30 MCQs; 30 marks

  • Language I-Tamil/Telugu/Malayalam/Kannada/Urdu (compulsory); 30 MCQs; 30 marks
  • Language II-English (compulsory); 30 MCQs; 30 marks
  • (a) Mathematics and Science Teacher-Mathematics and Science or (b) Social Studies Teacher-Social
  • Studies; or Any Other Teacher (a) or (b); 60 MCQs; 60 marks
  • Total; 150 MCQs; 150 marks
  • Test items on Child Development and Pedagogy will focus on Educational Psychology of Teaching and Learning, relevant to the age group 11-14 years
  • Test Items for language I will focus on the proficiencies related to the medium of Instruction
  • The candidate has to choose any one of the languages
  • Test Items for Language II-English will focus on the elements of language, communication and comprehension abilities
  • Candidates securing 60% and above in the tests will be issued a TET eligibility certificate mentioning the language opted under Language I, which will be valid for 7 years from the date of issue of the certificate
  • The TET certificate will be mandatory for anybody willing to work as a Teacher in the State of Tamil Nadu for Classes I to VIII.

TNTET 2019 Exam Centre

  • Examination will be held in all districts. Candidates should appear for the Examination at their own expenses.
  • The Board reserves the right to increase or decrease the number of examination centres and to re-allot the candidates for administrative reasons.

 

TNTET 2019 Application Process

  • Candidates should apply only through online mode in the TRB website www.trb.tn.nic.in
  • Use separate application for Paper-I and Paper-II
  • Candidates should ensure that they have their scanned recent color passport size photograph (JPG/JPEG /PNG format of size 20-60 kB) and signature (JPG/JPEG/PNG format of size 10-30 kB) separately
  • The online application uploaded without the photograph and signature will be rejected. A valid e-mail id and Mobile Number are mandatory for registration and e-mail id should be kept active till the declaration of results.
  • All the particulars mentioned in the online application including name of the candidate, paper applied, communal category, date of birth, address and all other fields will be considered as final. Candidates are requested to fill the online application form with utmost care and caution as no correspondence regarding change of details will be entertained.
  • Incomplete or defective applications shall be summarily rejected. No representation or correspondence regarding such rejection shall be entertained under any circumstances.
  • The online application can be submitted up to 05.04.2019 till 05.00 PM after which the link gets disabled.

 

Examination Fees

  • The Exam Fee is Rs. 500/- for all the candidates except SC, SCA, ST and Person with Disability. For SC, SCA, ST and Person with Disability Candidates, the examination fee is Rs.250/-. Since the Exam Fee is different for various categories, candidates are advised to enter the correct Community / Person with Disability category.
  • Once the payment is made, it will not be refunded. Online payment to be made only through Payment Gateway. (Net banking/Credit Card / Debit Card)
  • Offline mode of payment in any form such as Demand Draft / Postal order etc. will not be accepted. The candidates, who want to appear for both Paper-I and Paper-II, should pay separately for both.
