NBRC Gurgaon PhD and MSc Admission 2021 – National Brain Research Centre (NBRC) invites applications for admission to PhD and M.Sc. (Neuroscience) Programs for the academic year 2021

Eligibility Criteria for NBRC Gurgaon PhD and MSc Admission 2021

Eligibility for Ph.D. (Neuroscience) Programs:

  • A candidate seeking admission to the course of study leading to the award of Doctor of Philosophy should meet the following criteria :
  • Master's degree or equivalent in any branch of Science such as Life Sciences / Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics / Statistics / Computer applications / Pharmacy / Veterinary Science / Psychology from a recognized Institute / University.
  • You are also eligible if you have completed a minimum of a four-year course leading to Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering / Technology / Medicine from a recognized Institute / University.
  • Candidates appearing for the final year of the qualifying examination are also eligible to apply.
  • At least 55% (50% for SC / ST / PH candidates) marks or an equivalent grade or grade point average from secondary (10th) examination onwards is required.
  • Candidates should calculate their percentage up to two decimal points to determine their eligibility.

Eligibility for M.Sc. (Neuroscience) Programs:

NBRC Gurgaon PhD and MSc Admission 2021 Application Process

  • Eligible candidates can apply online through University website http://www.nbrc.ac.in/
  • Candidates who wish to apply by offline mode need to obtain an application form from NBRC. In order to obtain the application form, please send a self-addressed A-4 size envelope to the Registrar, National Brain Research Centre, Manesar-122052 Dist. Gurgaon (Haryana).
  • If you are eligible for both M.Sc. (Neuroscience) and Ph.D. programmes, you can choose to apply for both the programmes by filling in separate online application forms (by using different email-ids) or sending application by post / courier. You will have to pay the fee separately for each programme.

Steps to Follow for Online Application:

Step 1

Check if you fulfil minimum criteria for admission to the NBRC Ph.D. or M.Sc. (Neuroscience) programme.

Step 2

Apply for JGEEBILS (to be held in March 2021).

Step 3

Apply to NBRC Ph.D. or M.Sc. programme here before 31st March 2021. You must apply to NBRC using this link. Merely applying for JGEEBILS does not automatically send your application to NBRC.

Step 4

Pay the required amount of fee.

Selection Procedure

For Ph.D (Neuroscience)

 

Based on their performance in any qualifying examinations of Joint Graduate Entrance Examination for Biology and Interdisciplinary Life Sciences 2021 (JGEEBILS 2021), GATE- 2020/GATE-2021 in Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics / Electrical Engineering / Electronics and Communications Engineering / Computer Science and Information Technology / Instrumentation Engineering, Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST) (2021) (for Physics).

CSIR / UGC / DBT / ICMR examination for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in Biology / Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics. Validity of the fellowship should be such that it can be activated on 31st August, 2021 or later. UGC-NET Lectureship / JRF qualified on / after Dec 2018.

Candidates will be short-listed for interviews to be held at NBRC.

For M.Sc. (Neuroscience)

 

Based on their performance in any qualifying examinations of Joint Graduate Entrance Examination for Biology and Interdisciplinary Life Sciences 2021 (JGEEBILS 2021).

M.Sc. programme candidates will be screened through JGEEBILS only.

Candidates will be short-listed for a two-tier interview based on their performance in the JGEEBILS examination.

Fellowships Details

  • PhD (Neuroscience) - All admitted candidates receive a Junior Research Fellowship of Rs. 31,000/- per month + HRA (in lieu of hostel accommodation) for the first two years. After two years, you will be eligible for a Senior Research Fellowship of Rs. 35,000/- per month + HRA (in lieu of hostel accommodation).
  • For M.Sc. (Neuroscience) - All the students are provided a fellowship of Rs. 12,000 per month (and HRA or hostel accommodation).
  • If you fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria for admission to our M.Sc. programme, you need to appear for Joint Graduate Entrance Examination for Biology and Interdisciplinary Life Sciences 2021 (JGEEBILS 2021). Selected candidates will be called for an interview.
