NBRC Gurgaon PhD and MSc in Neuroscience Courses 2019 - National Brain Research Centre (NBRC) invites applications for admissions to PhD and M.Sc. (Neuroscience) Programs for the academic year 2019.

Program Details

PhD (Neuroscience)

  • Neuroscience is interdisciplinary in nature. So, students from diverse academic backgrounds can excel in neuroscience research. Our current pool of PhD Students have diverse background such as Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Engineering and Medical Science

 

M.Sc. (Neuroscience)

  • This is a two-year program. One year of taught course work program is followed by a full time research project during the second year in one of the NBRC labs. You might be eligible to switch to Integrated M.Sc.-Ph.D. Program of NBRC. Click here for more information

 

Fellowships Details

  • PhD (Neuroscience) - Students from diverse academic backgrounds are considered for this program. Fellowship for Junior Research Fellows is Rs.25000/- per month and for Senior Research Fellows Rs.28000/- per month

For M.Sc. (Neuroscience) - NBRC is one of the few Institutes in the country to offer M.Sc. (Neuroscience) degree. Students are provided a fellowship of Rs.12000/- per month

  • If you fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria for admission to our M.Sc. Program, you need to appear for Joint Graduate Entrance Exam for Biology and Interdisciplinary Life Sciences 2018 (JGEEBILS 2018). Selected candidates will be called for interview.

 

Eligibility Criteria for NBRC Gurgaon PhD and MSc in Neuroscience Courses 2019

PhD (Neuroscience)

  • Master's degree or equivalent in any branch of Science such as Life Sciences / Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics / Statistics / Computer applications / Pharmacy / Veterinary Science / Psychology from a recognized Institute / University. You are also eligible if you have done a minimum of four-year course leading to Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering / Technology / Medicine from a recognized Institute / University
  • Candidates appearing for final year of the qualifying exam are also eligible to apply.
  • At least 55% (50% for SC / ST / PH candidates) marks or equivalent grade or grade point average from secondary (10th) exam onwards is required.
  • Candidates should calculate their percentage up to two decimal points to determine their eligibility.

 

M.Sc. (Neuroscience)

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in any branch of Science such as Life Sciences / Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics / Statistics / Computer applications / Pharmacy / Veterinary Science / Psychology / Engineering / Technology / Medicine from a recognized Institute / University.
  • Candidates appearing for final year of the qualifying exam are also eligible to apply.
  • At least 55% (50% for SC / ST / PH candidates) marks or equivalent grade or grade point average from secondary (10th) exam onwards is required.
  • Candidates should calculate their percentage up to two decimal points to determine their eligibility.
  • Only Indian nationals are eligible for the above programs.
  • Reservation/Concessions for SC/ST/PH candidates will be as per rules of Government of India / UGC.

 

Selection Procedure

  • National Brain Research Centre (NBRC) will select candidates through following channels for admissions to following programs for the year 2019

 

PhD (Neuroscience)

  • Joint Graduate Entrance Examination for Biology and Interdisciplinary Life Sciences 2018 (JGEEBILS 2018)
  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE-2018/GATE-2019) in Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics / Electrical Engineering / Electronics & Communications Engineering / Computer Science and Information Technology/Instrumentation Engineering. Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST) (2019) (for Physics)
  • CSIR/UGC / DBT/ICMR examination for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in Biology / Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics. Validity of the fellowship should be such that it can be activated on 31st August 2019 or later. UGC-NET Lectureship qualified on/after Dec 2016
  • Based on their performance in any of the above qualifying exams, candidates will be short-listed for interviews to be held at NBRC.

 

M.Sc. (Neuroscience)

Joint Graduate Entrance Examination for Biology and Interdisciplinary Life Sciences (JGEEBILS)

  • M.Sc. Program candidates will be screened through JGEEBILS only. Candidates will be short-listed for a two-tier interview based on their performance in the JGEEBILS Exam

  • The Candidates can apply for admission to PhD or M.Sc. (Neuroscience) Programs at National Brain Research Centre (NBRC) either Online or Offline
  • Last Date of application from all channels (except JGEEBILS), both Online and Offline, to reach NBRC is 31th March 2019
  • Application fee for various categories of candidates applying for PhD or M.Sc. (Neuroscience) programs is given below-
  • General - Rs.300/- (Online Applicants), Rs.350/- (Offline Applicants)
  • SC/ST/PH - Rs.150/- (Online Applicants), Rs.200/- (Offline Applicants)

Online

  • For Online, application Form click the 'Apply Online Tab' and select the channel

Offline

  • Candidates who wish to apply by offline mode need to obtain application form from NBRC. In order to obtain the application form, send a self-addressed A-4 size envelope to Registrar, National Brain Research Centre, Manesar-122051 Dist. Gurgaon (Haryana)
  • Offline applicants can submit the application fee by a Demand Draft drawn in favour of Director, National brain Research Centre payable at Gurgaon or Manesar. Send the Demand Draft and complete application form to the Registrar, National Brain Research Centre, Manesar-122051 Dist. Gurgaon (Haryana)
