Past Tense of LEAD, Form of Verbs, Learn English Grammar

The past tense of the verb lead is led, not lead. One reason for the confusion might be that a similar verb, read, has an infinitive that's spelled the same as the past tense. But with lead, that's not how things are.

Past tense of Lead and other forms of the verb  Lead

In Hindi, ‘Lead’ means नेतृत्व करना

 root or present form

lead  नेतृत्व करता हूं नेतृत्व करते हैं

 third person singular / ‘s’  form

leads नेतृत्व करता है

 past form

led नेतृत्व किया था

 present participle/ ‘ing’  form

leading नेतृत्व कर रहे हैं नेतृत्व कर रहा हूं नेतृत्व कर रहा है

 past participle form

led नेतृत्व कर चुका हूं   नेतृत्व कर चुके हैं नेतृत्व कर चुका है

 

Let us see some example sentences to understand the usage of the different forms of the verb ‘ lead’.

 

               

As you are familiar with this place, please lead.

(Present form)

The monitor leads his class.

(III person singular / ‘s’ form)

The general led the Battalion 

(past form)

The steward is leading the guests to their table.

(present participle form)

Have you led a group of people on a trek before?

(past participle form)
