RCB Faridabad announces Admission to Integrated MSc-PhD Program in Biotechnology 2020

RCB Integrated MSc-PhD Admission 2020 – Regional Centre for Biotechnology invites applications from motivated students for admission to the PhD (Integrated) Degree Program – MSc-PhD in Biotechnology for the year 2020.

 

About the Program (RCB Faridabad PhD Admission)

  • Applications are invited form Indian and Foreign students holding a graduate degree (or those accepted to complete shortly) in any field of Science, Technology or Engineering for admission to the M.Sc.-PhD Integrated Degree Program 2020
  • Prospective Indian students willing to apply for admission to RCB M.Sc.-PhD Integrated Degree Program are required to register online and appear for the Joint Graduate Entrance Exam for Biology and Interdisciplinary Life Sciences (JGEEBILS) test to be conducted by the NCBS-TIFR in December 2019
  • The PhD (Integrated) program is governed by the RCB ordinances and regulations

RCB Integrated MSc-PhD Admission 2020 Important Dates

Duration of the Program

  • The duration of the PhD (Integrated) Degree Program is a minimum of 5 years and a maximum of 7 years.

 

Eligibility Criteria for RCB Integrated MSc-PhD Admission 2020

Indian Students

  • Students with 60% aggregate marks (or an equivalent grade point average) in Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Science, Engineering, or Medicine are eligible to apply for admission. Students from the SC, ST, OBC (non-creamy layer), and PWD categories shall be given a relaxation of 5% aggregate marks. Students in the final year of their qualifying degree program are also eligible to apply provided that they produce a proof of having secured the required marks in their undergraduate degree program at the time of admission to the PhD (Integrated) Degree Program.
  • Eligible students are required to appear for the Joint Graduate Entrance Examination for Biology and Interdisciplinary Life Sciences (JGEEBILS). Shortlisted students based on their performance in the JGEEBILS, shall be invited for an interview for their final selection to the PhD (Integrated) Degree Program. The interview is to assess the student for his/ her science aptitude and interest in a career in scientific research and development.
  • Up to 20 students, who meet the desired criteria for selection, may be admitted. There shall be reservation of seats as per the orders of Govt. of India in this regard.

Foreign Students

  • Students with 60% aggregate marks (or an equivalent grade point average) in Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Science, Engineering, or Medicine are eligible to apply for admission. Students in the final year of their qualifying degree program are also eligible to apply provided they produce a proof of having secured the required marks in their undergraduate degree program at the time of admission to the PhD (Integrated) Degree Program.
  • Eligible students are required to apply online for admission and fellowship to the program. Shortlisted students shall be invited to appear for a Skype-based interview for their selection to the PhD (Integrated) Degree Program. The interview is to assess the student for his/ her science aptitude and interest in a career in scientific research and development.
  • Up to 5 students, who meet the desired criteria for selection, may be admitted. Admission of foreign students is subjected to getting student visa from Govt. of India for the duration of the program.

Fellowships

  • The Indian and Foreign students admitted to the program shall receive the RCB Ramachandran-DBT fellowship Rs. 16000 per month for the first 2 years of the program, after which the Indian students shall be required to qualify for the junior/senior research fellowships offered by CSIR, ICMR, DBT, or other such funding agencies.
  • The performance of the foreign students, after completion of their MSc component of the program, shall be evaluated by the Student Advisory Committee and based on its positive recommendation the student shall be awarded the RCB-DBT International Doctoral fellowship equivalent to the fellowships offered to Indian students from different funding agencies as per the relevant DST guidelines.
  • Currently, the amount of the Junior Research Fellowship is Rs. 31000 per month and it is Rs. 35000 per month for the Senior Research Fellowship.

RCB Integrated MSc-PhD Admission 2020 Application Process

  • Eligible candidates may apply online at www.rcb.res.in for admission to the PhD (Integrated) Degree Program of the Regional Centre for Biotechnology.
  • The application fee of Rs. 500/- may be paid online. The SC, ST, PWD, Women candidates and foreign students are exempted from payment of the application fee.
  • Indian applicants are required to register online appear for the JGEEBILS test to be conducted by the NCBS-TIFR in December 2019.
  • A separate online application is then required to be made to RCB.
  • RCB will conduct an interview of shortlisted candidates based on JGEEBILS score.
  • Foreign applicants can apply online directly along with scanned copy of transcripts and the shortlisted candidates will be interviewed through Skype.
  • The last date of registration for PhD (Integrated) Degree Program at RCB is 29 February, 2020 for the Indian Students and 30 March, 2020 for the Foreign Students.
