Eligibility Criteria for CDS Trivandrum PhD Admission 2020
| PhD Program at CDS is subject to UGC regulations. As per UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of MPhil/PhD Degrees) Regulations of 2016 | |
| Any of the following options may be satisfied | An M.Phil degree from any Indian university recognized by the UGC or from a foreign educational institution |
| Master’s degree or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) | |
| Eligibility for admission does not ensure fellowship. Fellowship award will be based on a separate interview in the presence of sponsoring agencies | |
| A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC(non-creamy layer)/Person with Disability (PWD) and other categories of candidates | |
Reservation
| i. | India belonging to SC, ST, OBC (NCL) & Persons with Disability (PWD) (≥ 40% disability) as per Govt. of India rules |
| ii. | Reservation is applicable to only 20 seats earmarked for students from India |

| ii. | Application is to be submitted in the prescribed format along with copies of all mark sheets/certificates from +2 onwards |
| iii. | Application with enclosures should reach the Academic Program Office, Centre for Development Studies, floor, Medical College (PO), Thiruvananthapuram-695011, Kerala |

Admission Procedure
| i. | No more than twelve candidates will be selected for the PhD program in Economics |
| ii. | Statutory reservation for Indian candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC (NCL) & Persons with Disability (PWD) (40% disability) as per Govt. of India rules is provided |
| iii. | Foreign nationals and officials nominated by the Government of Kerala will be considered separately |
