Nizam’s Institute of Medical Science MPT Admission 2023 –  Nizam’s Institute of Medical Science (NIMS) Hyderabad invites applications from eligible candidates of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh States for admission to Master of Physiotherapy (MPT) Course for the academic session 2023. through the entrance exam. The Master of Physiotherapy program focuses on the study of physical therapy for joint problems. It is a two-year full-time professional degree program. MPT places a greater emphasis on physiotherapy techniques and approaches. MPT Course offers specializations in Sports, musculoskeletal, musculoskeletal physiotherapy, neurology, and cardiac physiotherapy.   • Note: One seat is reserved for in-service candidate of NIMS who satisfies the requisite qualifications and qualifies himself/herself in entrance examination

 

Eligibility Criteria

Prior Qualification required

  • Candidates holding a Bachelor degree in Physiotherapy from a recognized University and completed/shall be completing 6 months internship by 30th September 2023 in India or a Foreign University with at least 10+2+4 years of educational pattern and a minimum of 6 months internship. Deadline for completion of internship is 30th September 2023.
  • The candidates who have already registered for any degree or studying regular course and applying for admission to another course in NIMS, shall resign such training course in the Institute duly fulfilling the conditions of the bond and failure to do so, their applications for admission to the other course will be rejected

Age Criteria

  • The minimum age for admission shall be 22 years completed as on 31st December 2023 and should not be more than 35 years as on 31st December 2023
  • Upper age limit is relaxable by 3 years in the case of SC/ST candidates; for inservice (NIMS) candidates, the age limit is not applicable

 

Statutory Reservations

  • Rule of reservation for SC/ST & OBC (A, B, C, D & E) shall be applied as per 100 points roster
  • BCE Reservation: There shall be 4% reservation under BCE as per memo No.19392/A2/2007
  • The BCE certificate based on GOMs No.23, Backward classes welfare (C2), dated 7th July 2007 should be obtained from Mandal Revenue Officer/Tahsildar

Local Area Reservations

  • The local area reservations are made as per the procedure described in the Annexure IV of GOP No. 646 dated 10th July 1979 and may be seen at www.nims.edu.in
  • The following allocations are accordingly made for the three regions of the State of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh
    • Andhra University (AU): 42%
    • Osmania University (OU): 36% and
    • Sri Venkateswara University (SVU): 22%

 

Application Procedure

  • The Online Application Registration, Notification and instructions to fill the application is available at NIMS Website www.nims.edu.in from 07th October 2023 till 5.00 PM
  • The filled in application form will have to be printed, signed and sent to Associate Dean, Aptitude Testing, 2nd floor, Old OPD Block, Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences, Punjagutta, Hyderabad-500082 on or before due date along with all the documents mentioned in the Annexure I and a demand draft
  • A Demand Draft for Rs.1100/ drawn in favour of the Director, Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences or NIMS Cash Receipt will have to be submitted simultaneously along with the filledin application
  • Application fee is nonrefundable even if the application is summarily rejected

 

Selection Process

  • Selection will be made based on the performance of the candidates at the entrance test; in case of equality of marks in the entrance exam the following criteria will be adopted to resolve the ties:
  • Candidate obtaining higher total percentage of marks in BPT exam followed by
  • Candidate elder in age will be placed higher in the merit list in that order
  • The marks obtained by the candidates in the entrance exam and the names of candidates qualified for counselling will be displayed on the notice board of the institute/website on the date notified
  • Candidates have to report for counselling in person with a counselling fee of Rs.25000/ (Rupees twenty five thousand only)
  • No request for postponing the date of counselling or request to appear at an earlier date shall be entertained

 

Entrance Test Scheme

  • There shall be a common entrance test consisting of multiple choice (objective) questions (MCQs) as described below:
  • Specialty MCQs in musculoskeletal, cardiovascular and pulmonary and neurosciences (approximately 50%) related to basic and clinical sciences, biomechanics, physiotherapy techniques, critical care and rehabilitation
  • General MCQs (approximately 50%) in general clinical sciences (general medicine, general surgery, paediatric, obstetrics and gynaecology, electrotherapy, exercise therapy, firstaid, resuscitations, social & preventive medicine, radiology, sociology and psychology)
  • The selection shall be by an entrance test consisting 60 multiplechoice questions covering the Bachelor of Physiotherapy course to be answered in 60 minutes
  • The syllabus for entrance test shall be that of BPT standard of the Universities of Telangana/Andhra Pradesh States
  • The entrance test shall be conducted at the venue and date and time specified by the institute
  • Hall Tickets will be sent to the candidates through email or will be issued in person; the qualifying marks to be eligible for admission are 50%; in the case of SC/ST candidates the minimum qualifying marks at the entrance test shall be 40%
  • All requests for reevaluation have to be made within the stipulated time along with the copy of the hallticket and payment of Rs.1500/ by paying cash in the NIMS Cash Counter in person
