Eligibility Criteria for Kumaun University PhD Admission 2023
- Must have a Master’s degree of the Kumaun University (hereafter referred to as University) or of any other University incorporated by the law in force and recognized by the UGC; provided also that the candidate fulfills following criteria:
- Candidate should have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) OR a grade point average equivalent to 55% marks (without rounding off) at the Master’s degree exam
- For OBC belonging to non-creamy layer/SC/ST/PH/ VH Candidates, the minimum marks shall be 50% (without rounding off).

Selection Procedure
- Candidates seeking admission in the PhD program will be selected through either of the following two methods:
- Research Degree Entrance Test (RDET), followed by an interview.
- Direct admission, whereby the candidate is exempted from RDET but must still apply by completing the online form for the Ph.D. entrance examination and submitting the requisite fees by the designated deadline. These candidates must also appear for the interview as a compulsory requirement.
Exam Pattern
- University will administer a written exam worth 100 marks, with a total duration of 2 hours.
- The exam will consist of 100 objective/multiple choice questions, each worth one mark, with no penalty for incorrect answers.
- The Test will consist of two papers. Both papers will consist of objective type, multiple-choice questions
