Eligibility Criteria for Jadavpur University BLISc and MLISc Admission 2021

For BLISc Course

  • 10+2+3 Honours Graduate (in any discipline) with 50% marks in Honours subjects (45% for OBC-A/OBC-B category & 40% for SC/ST/PD category) from the University, or any other university, accepted as equivalent thereto by the Statutory Bodies of the University/norms prescribed by the Regulatory Bodies as applicable subject to such conditions as may be prescribed thereof. OR
  • 10+2+3 Pass Graduate with 55% marks in aggregate (49.5% for OBC-A/OBC-B category & 41.25% for SC/ST/PD category) from the University, or any other university, accepted as equivalent thereto by the Statutory Bodies of the University/norms prescribed by the Regulatory Bodies as applicable subject to such conditions as may be prescribed thereof. OR
  • Bachelor degree in Engineering/ Technology/ Medical/ Law with 50% marks (45% for OBCA/OBC-B category & 40% for SC/ST/PD category) from the University, or any other university, accepted as equivalent thereto by the Statutory Bodies of the University/norms prescribed by the Regulatory Bodies as applicable subject to such conditions as may be prescribed thereof.  OR
  • 10+2+3 Graduate (Honours / Pass) from the University, or any other university, plus Certificate in Library Science with 65% marks from a recognized body, accepted by the Statutory Bodies of the University/norms prescribed by the Regulatory Bodies as applicable subject to such conditions as may be prescribed thereof.
  • Those who will be eligible in or will opt for Certificate category having 65% and above marks in Certificate in Library Science, their selection will be based only on the basis of marks obtained in Certificate in Library Science. Percentage of marks in Graduation will be ignored in this category.
  • All candidates must have a minimum 45% marks in H.S./Equivalent Examination.
  • All applicants must have completed results of Bachelor’s Degree course or  equivalent degree from any University/Institute recognized by the UGC and/or completed result in Certificate in Library & Information Science at the time of application.

For MLISc Course

  • For Deputed Candidates Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with BLIS degree or its equivalent from a recognized institution with minimum 3 years of experience (as on the date for submission of application) after passing BLIS as a whole-time salaried staff member in a recognized library or information centre.
  • For Other Candidates Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with BLIS degree or its equivalent from a recognized institution with minimum 55% marks in BLIS (41.25% for SC/ST/PD and 49.5% for OBC-A/OBC-B).

For MLISc  (Digital Library) Course

  • For Deputed Candidates Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with BLIS degree or its equivalent from a recognized institution with minimum 3 years of experience (as on the date for submission of application) after passing BLIS as a whole-time salaried staff member in a recognized library or information centre.
  • For Other Candidates Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with BLIS degree or its equivalent from a recognized institution with minimum 55% marks in BLIS (41.25% for SC/ST/PD and 49.5% for OBC-A/OBC-B).
  • All applicants must have completed the results of Bachelor’s and BLIS Degree courses or equivalent degree from any University/Institute recognized by the UGC at the time of application.

Jadavpur University BLISc and MLISc Admission 2021 Application Process

  • Eligible candidates can apply online through the official website https://admission.jdvu.ac.in/
  • The candidates desirous to seek admission are required to apply online. Only those applicants, who apply online before the last date and satisfy the eligibility criteria, will be considered for admission.

Selection procedure

For Bachelor of Library and Information Science Course

  • There are four categories of eligible candidates viz., Honours graduates, Pass graduates, B.Tech etc. and Certificate in Library Science. For ranking a weightage value to be multiplied as follows:
  • i. Weightage for Honours marks: 50/50 =1
  • ii. Weightage for Pass Graduates aggregate marks: 50/55 = 0.9090909091
  • iii. Weightage for Engineering/ Technology/ Medical/ Law Graduates aggregate marks: 50/50 = 1
  • iv. Weightage for Certificate course aggregate marks: 50/65 =0.7692307692

For MLISc  & MLISc (Digital Liberty) Course

  • Merit list will be prepared on the basis of percentage of marks obtained in B.L.I.Sc. examination.
  • In the case of breaking a tie, the first preference shall be given on percentage of marks obtained in Graduation examination followed by the percentage of marks obtained in H.S./Equivalent Examination.
