IGNOU PG Certificate Course in Climate Change (PGCCC) 

 

IGNOU launches new PG Certificate in climate Change from July 2019 session – Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has recently announced to launch a Course titled Post Graduate Course in Climate Change (PGCCC) from the upcoming academic session July 2019. The program was created in order to make the students aware of climate change strategies and how the several ministries under the Govt of India have adopted different strategies to tackle it.

The authorities from IGNOU have tailor-made this programme to incorporate different development in the field of climate change regarding the influence of humans on the climate and different protocols and conventions that are taking place in this sector. 

 

With this course, the learners would be able to learn about the impact of climate change on terrestrial as well as aquatic ecosystem. They will also be enriched with changes taking place due to the climate activities such as adaptation and mitigation strategies. 

 

The objective of this programme is to expose the students to the climate change domain and the conventions associated with it. With this, the learners would be able to understand the assessment tools regarding the climate change. The students would be acquainted with interaction between society and climate change. 

 

The course has been developed targeting those teachers who teach Environmental Science related subjects as well as the NGO activists, policy makers, journalists, executives, etc. who are working in this sector. It is also aimed at those fresh graduates who wish to pursue a career in this field. 

 

This programme is being offered through Open Distance Learning Mode (ODL) and its duration is of six months which can be extended up to a maximum of two years. The medium of instruction would be English. The fees for this course is Rs 3800. It consists of three compulsory and one optional course. Those who want to take admission in this programme should be a graduate in any stream from a recognised university.
