HPU Shimla PhD Admission 2024 – Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) online applications are invited for admission to PhD Program offered in various departments/institutes through Entrance Test for the academic session 2024-25 

 

About HPU Shimla 

Himachal Pradesh University was established by an Act of the Legislative Assembly of Himachal Pradesh on 22nd July, 1970. It is the only multi-faculty residential and affiliating university in the State that provides higher education to urban, rural and tribal areas through formal and distant modes. It  is a grade ‘A’ accredited university by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council.

  • Ph.D.  in Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Botany, Zoology, Bio-Technology, Physical Education, Computer Science, English, History, Hindi, Sanskrit, Commerce, Economics, Visual Arts, Music, Journalism and Mass Communication, Geography, Sociology, Social Work, Law, Psychology, Tourism, Management, Political Science, Yoga, Education, Microbiology

Eligibility Criteria

  • Selection will be through entrance & interview.

HPU Shimla PhD Entrance Test

  • The criteria for Entrance Test are as under: –
  • Written Test will be of 80 marks.
  • Qualifying marks (Percentage) for all the candidates for Ph.D. program shall be 50% for General Category and 45% for reserved categories (SC/ST/PwD).
  • Weightage will be maximum of 10% of the marks obtained in the Entrance Test and will give as under: –
  • NET-JRF, other equivalent fellowship, NET and GATE-10% of the marks obtained in the Entrance Test by the Candidate.
  • SLET/M.Phil-5% of the marks obtained in the Entrance Test by the Candidate.
  • Research Aptitude – 12 Marks through personal interview based on research proposal.

 

Application Process

  • Eligible Candidates can apply online through the official website https://hpuniv.ac.in/ and www.admissions.hpushimla.in
  • Candidates will have an E-Mail ID, an active mobile number, scanned (photograph and signature) for filling the form.
  • Applicants are required to fill all information required in different sectors like Education and Documents details. Application fee can be paid online through Debit/Credit card, internet banking.
  • Before filling the application form read the instructions carefully and follow them strictly. Visit the University website for online submission of application forms.

 

Selection Process

  • Admission to the concerned PhD courses will be made through an entrance test. Details of the entrance test will be informed to eligible candidates through admit cards in due course. The final merit list (selected and waiting list) will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the entrance test.
