Eligibility Criteria for Gautam Buddha University PhD Admission 2019-20

  • PhD (Electrical Engineering): M. Tech/ ME in relevant area or M.Sc. (Engineering), M.Sc. (Electronics) with minimum 55% aggregate marks (50% in case of SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/ Differently-abled) or its equivalent grade.
  • PhD (Architecture & Planning): Master’s Degree in Architecture/ Planning with minimum 55% aggregate marks (50% marks in case of SC/ST/OBC (Non-creamy layer)/Differently abled) or its equivalent grade.
  • PhD (Mechanical Engg.): M.Tech./ME in relevant area with minimum 55% aggregate marks (50% in case of SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/ Differently-abled) or its equivalent grade.
  • PhD (Computer Science and Engineering): A Master’s Degree in M.Tech/ M.Sc./ M.E./ MS in Computer Science/ CSE/IT or relevant disciplines or MCA with minimum 55% aggregate marks (50% in case of SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/ Differently-abled) or its equivalent grade.
  • PhD (Biotechnology): A Master’s Degree in any discipline of Life Science / Allied Science with minimum 55% aggregate marks (50% in case of SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/ Differently-abled) or its equivalent grade
  • PhD (Applied Chemistry): A Master’s Degree in Chemistry with minimum 55% aggregate marks (50% in case of SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/ Differently-abled) or its equivalent grade.
  • PhD (Applied Physics): A Master’s Degree in Physics / Applied Physics/ Electronics with minimum 55% aggregate marks (50% in case of SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/ Differently-abled) or its equivalent grade.
  • PhD (Applied Mathematics): A Master’s Degree in Mathematics or relevant discipline with minimum 55% aggregate marks (50% in case of SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-abled) or its equivalent grade
  • PhD (Environmental Science): A Master’s Degree in Environmental Sc. with minimum 55% aggregate marks (50% in case of SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/ Differently-abled) or its equivalent grade.
  • PhD (Political Science & International Relations) (Specialization: International Relations): Master’s Degree in Political Science / International Relations/ Political Science & International Relations/ Public Administration/ Public Policy with minimum 55% aggregate marks (50% in case of SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/ Differently-abled) or its equivalent grades.
  • PhD (English / Linguistics): Master’s Degree in English / Linguistics with minimum 55% aggregate marks (50% in case of SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/ Differently-abled) or its equivalent grade.
  • PhD (Clinical Psychology): Master’s Degree in Psychology with a specialization in Clinical Psychology area with minimum 55% aggregate marks (50% in case of SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/ Differently-abled) or its equivalent grade.
  • PhD (Journalism and Mass Communication): Master’s Degree in Journalism / Mass Communication / Media Studies or relevant disciplines with minimum 55% aggregate marks (50% in case of SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/ Differently-abled) or its equivalent grade.
  • PhD (Buddhist Studies & Civilization): Master’s Degree with minimum 55% aggregate marks (50% in case of SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/ Differently-abled) or its equivalent grade.

Reservation/Relaxation

  • The reservation and relaxation policy for SC/ST/OBC candidates is as per Uttar Pradesh Government and Gautam Buddha University rules.
  • The sports person providing evidence of participation in National/International level events may be provided 5% relaxation in respective qualifying examination.

Selection Process

  • Admission to PhD will be based on the entrance examination and interview conducted by the university.

Syllabus for the Entrance Test

  • All Ph.D. Programmes in various disciplines:
  • Research Methodology – 50 Marks
  • Subject Awareness – 50 Marks
  • Total Marks – 100 Marks
  • The question paper will comprise of 100 Marks. The further division of the marks in two sections is shown in Table 8.0. For the detailed syllabi of the entrance exam of RM and Subject Awareness, candidates are advised to visit the admission link of the GBU website.
  • The Entrance Test for Ph.D Programme shall be qualifying with qualifying marks as 50% (45 % for SC/ST).
  • A weightage of 70% to the entrance test and 30% to the performance in the interview/viva voce shall be given for selection of candidates in Ph.D. Programmes.

Centre for Entrance Test

  • Candidates must give three choices of entrance test centres. In case of not having desired no. of candidates in a Centre(s), the University reserves the right to allot any offered test Centre to a candidate irrespective of the preference indicated by him/her on the Application Form without assigning any reason.

Gautam Buddha University PhD Admission 2019-20 Application Process

  • Online application form and admission brochure is available on the University website: www.gbu.ac.in
  • Candidates are advised to read the Admission Brochure carefully, check their eligibility and applicable reservation category etc. before filling and submitting the application form.
  • The application forms shall be available in the online mode only from the University Website: http://www.gbu.ac.in
  • Applicants are advised to go through the demo video to fill the form.
  • The applicants are advised that they must keep the details of their login-id and the password secure and safe as the form filling as well as admit cards shall be made available through the online mode only.
  • If a candidate wants to fill multiple programmes across the same/different Schools, then he/she will have to login separately for all such programmes, i.e. individual logins needs to be done for choosing the programmes.

Application Fee

  • General/OBC – Rs.1200/-
  • SC/ST – Rs. 600/-
  • Application fee is to be paid through Credit Card/Debit Card/Net Banking/UPI.
